Scanner won't work

I don't know why your scanner is not working
This printer is supported by Windows 7. Therefore, if you are using Windows 7, you might try rolling back the driver, or updating it, or uninstalling it and letting it re-install next time you connect it/reboot the computer. All these things are done from the hardware device manager > printers in the OS
As WIA is contained within Windows, rather than an additional driver from HP, the steps above should resolve any issues that are due to a corrupt driver.

Hello,

If it is your first time using your printer, then you need to install the driver for it to work.

If you have used your printer without any problem before then, there are two possible reasons why your printer/scanner is having that issue:

1. Connection error
2. Driver problem

First thing's first. Restart your computer and your printer. there are times that computers and printers just need a restart for it to work. Yes, it's strange but it's how things work with machines. They need rebooting to work smoothly.


If rebooting your computer and printer won't fix the problem. Here are the things that you can do.

1. Connection error:
.
a. Turn off your printer and turn it back on. Try scanning, if no go.. proceed to step b.

b. Unplug your printer from your computer and unplug it's power cord and press and hold the printer's power button to 5-8 seconds to completely drain the power. Plug it back in to the wall outlet leaving the connection between your computer and the printer still unplugged. wait until your printer completely turns on. Plug it to your computer and do the scanning process.

If all steps above don't work, then you need to check the driver.

Uinstall the driver of your computer by going to the control panel. After uinstalling it, then reinstall it by using the dvd that came with your printer. Follow the on-screen instructions and try scanning. It should work.

Yes it will work just fine. Mac OS supports basically 99% of USB printers.

Try scanning using our Lexmark Printer Home. To do that, on your computer, click on Start > All Programs > Lexmark > Lexmark Printer Home.

reboot (unplug) both the mac and the printer. happen to my imac and 7620 at least once a week

Hi. You won't locate the scanner using Finder - the same as you can't find a printer.
Scanners normally only show up when the software that uses them calls for them. I think, however, the problem may be Crossover. Crossover is a brilliant application and it runs most windows apps without too much hassle - it does appear though that it has problems talking to USB connected devices.
I have spent an hour or so this even ing trying to connect an energy recording device via USB but the windows software can't seem to find it.

Are you using it via a usb hub or is it plugged directly into the usb port of the mac. As it is powered via usb, on the hub it may not have enough power getting to it, so plug it directly into the usb port. If you already have it plugged into the usb port change the usb port and finally check that the usb cable is working, if it isn't change it. Hope this helps.
