SOURCE: When you turn it on the screen displays

Something seems to be broken or off between the mode dial and the switch. It also may have broken internal parts.
I have had a camera with a similar problem. It was that the small switch inside was broken, and could not be repaired.
These mode switches can be changed, but will require a digital camera repairman to do such a job. It also could be sold for parts/repair on a site such as Ebay.

Hi, i have a sony cybershot DSC-80. The other day the play-mode started to jump around when I tried to record a video. Eg. I would put into video mode and i can see on the screen jumping from mode to mode...

It really sounds like a faulty mode dial. It's a hardware fault. The mode dial has to be taken apart and cleaned. I have done it many times as I have worked in a Sony service center. Unfortunately you will need to give it to a technician, because it's not the easiest repair and takes some experience. It's a well known problem with many Sony cameras, including this one.

Sharp lc-32d4ou screen blacks out

I do have a work around that I have used on this model for the past3 years. if the sceen goes black. Turn off the tv. Grab the upper left and right hand corners of the tv with your hands. Flex the tv slightly back and forth. then turn it back on. my will usually run for hours after I do this. I do this 4 times a week. I works 100% if the time for me. Sharp lost a customer. good luck.

Mode dial on my Kodak DX6490 camera is hard to turn!

dissmantle the back case (watch for 1 hidden screw under rubber covers), lift plate on back of lcd screen, remove screw on back of dial, clean where it sits on both sides (most probably from a liquid spill...tea, coffee...) , apply some lube with a cottonbud ore a bit of tisue and rebuild.
hope this helps

Recorded video segment plays back in fast motion. How do i reset

This is a really simple problem and easy to solve.  Unfortunately the videos you've recorded cannot be changed back because they have been recorded in Time Lapse mode.
With the camera switched on in Video Mode turn the control dial on the back (this is the dial to the right of the LCD screen).  This will change the settings from TIME LAPSE to STANDARD.  There are actually 6 different modes but the best one for normal videos is STANDARD.  There is a HIGH RESOLUTION setting,  however these record fewer frames per second (fps) so whilst the quality is better per frame,  there are half the amount of fps so the the movie will look at bit jerky.
It's really easy to accidentally twist the dial when holding the camera,  so always check the icon in the top right of the LCD before recording to make sure its just a yellow camera in a yellow square.
This should be problem solved for all future recordings.

Changing Movie Recording Pixels

I phoned canon customer service. They said that you must turn the dial around the function set key. It will then change the movie mode from compact to standard ... and then you will be able to change the resolution. When I did it, the resolution went back to 640, which is the resolution on which I had it previously. Well before the compact mode issue.

To change the screen upside right again just hold down the mode button until the screen changes upside right again , pressing the mode button changes the aspect ratio of the screen.
