While watching TV, vertical colored lines (2 sets...pink, white, light blue on the left third of the screen and red, pink, green, dark blue on the right third of the screen). After awhile, the screen went blue...no picture at all and the lines are still visible. There is sound. Any ideas what may be the problem? Thanks.

nope you just got blue screen on look in user manual and find how to turn it off - inside projection TV there are 3 bulbs full of special liquid red blue green
I have given an general explanation on most projection TV ' s
Enter the menu on your TV. Use the remote control and bring up the menu.
Choose "Convergence." This may be under "Picture Settings," "Function" or "Advanced Options."
Select a color. You will have red, green and blue to choose from. Do each one, starting with red.
Press "Enter." A crosshair pattern will appear on your screen.
Adjust vertically. If there is a horizontal red line visible, press the up or down arrow keys (or channel up or down) to adjust the convergence until the line is superimposed on the horizontal-center line of the white crosshair.
Adjust horizontally. If there is a vertical red line visible, press left or right (or volume up or down) to adjust horizontally. Do this until the line is superimposed on the vertical line of the white crosshair.
Save settings. It is important to save your settings when you are done, instead of simply exiting the menu.
It's a convergence issue. Go into the main TV menu under video settings and look for convergence. If it has an auto convergence select that and wait a minute the TV will adjust itself and give you a clear picture. If the TV does not have an auto convergence and just regular convergence than select this. It will give you a grid pattern on your TV and you have to move the curser (using TV remote) and adjust each "point" so that each line is perfectly white. If you notice red or blue anywhere on that "line" then you have to adjust using the up, down, left and right arrow keys to "line up the red and blue lines with the nearest white line. It taked time and patience to do, but when completed, all lines on the grid pattern should be pure white and you will have a great looking picture. You have to do this will all TV inputs (Video1, Video2 and so on) the reason Zoom looks good, is because you never used that screen as much and so the lenses didn't have a chance to get out of synch. RPTV's are made of the three lenses (red, Blue and Green) and as you watch TV, these lenses slowly get out of alignment. So you should do a convergence about twice a year to make sure nothing is out of whack. Hope this help....
Hi,Yes your problem sounds like the DMD board.This is how it works: http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/dlp1.htm Basically the light of the lamp goes through a tunnel that carries a color wheel(rotating disc with a gamma of colors that creates the colors on your tv)then the light of the lamp goes through the DMD board which is a chip composed of around 2 million pixels that creates the images and colors.When it starts to fail it will create black bars,pixelation,color distortion or white dots on screens. I can't tell you how to fix this set, but I can tell you that its not a "lamp" issue as this doesn't have a lamp. Its a 3 picture tube projection TV. the three tubes are in a red green blue format, and average about $175 for each one, not including the labor to install them. your problem, may not be the tube, but just a power supply problem, but there is a chance it is.

That's still repairable here some tips need to consider as follow:
1)
Intermittent loss of syncronisation, both horizontal and vertical
The surface mounted power transistor on the teletext module requires
resoldering. As there is evidence of scorching on the board the use of
a more substantial component would be indicated perhaps with small
heatsink 2)
Picture displaced vertically, picture too high or low
This problem was cured by entering the service mode (menu then
4,7,2,5), then pressing the green fastext button to access geometry
settings, selecting VP1 (vertical position) and adjusting as necessary 3)
Vertical line at the left of the picture
Replace L506 on A board, replacement part number 1-407-366-00 4)
Problems with screen size
Look out for 2 x 2.2uF electrolytics (sometimes red in color) 5)
Vertical height oversize
The eprom was found to be faulty (nvm)
