I bought a reconditioned Bosc WFMC1001UC washer. It is very quiet until it reaches the spin cycle. Is it NORMAL for the spin cycle to be so noisy? I thought this washer was known for its quietness and now have to deal with this spin cycle noise. I am waiting for the owners manual as I did not receive one when I bought this. Also, is it normal for a larger load of clothes to take so long and have SEVERAL rinse cycles in it? This last large load I am doing now is taking over an HOUR to complete. Any help would be appreciated. I am now guessing that these problems are why this washer was returned to the store where I bought it. Thank you for your help.
Well, it just seems loud enough to hear in other parts of the house. We leveled it today and ran a spin cycle but without a load of clothes in it. We will try again with clothes tomorrow. It was only off a little bit on the level and we received the owners manual today and followed instructions for the leveling. It was a lot quieter but that was without clothes so don't know what to expect next time. Could the slightly unlevelness have caused it to be noisy the first few times we used it? Thanks!!Well, it just seems loud enough to hear in other parts of the house. It would be noisier than normal if it was not level.
Best way to tell if it is noisier than normal is to spin the drum by hand, there should be little or no noise from it.
If it is noisy or rumbling, or feels rough, then I would suspect that the drum bearings are worn and noisy.
An hour to complete a wash cycle is not abnormal, and they do do several rinses.

It could be either bearing failure or the support arms that hold the wash drum are failing. If it is relatively quiet when in the normal wash cycle but noisy only during the spin cycle, means that the bearings have failed. It's an expensive job to replace since you need to tear the entire machine apart to get to the outer tub. Another reason is that the manufacturer does not sell you replacement bearings but you must buy the outer rear tub. Get a few estimates before deciding whether to repair or replace.
take a look at your manual that came with your machine go to problems usually at the back and see what that says,or go to the bosch website and type in your model number its on the inside of the door.i would suspect a program fault.adrian,,,,,
The rear bearing in most front loaders lasts an average of 5 years under normal usage. Spin the drum manually with your hand and seee if it is nice and smooth and quiet. If the bearing is ok it is probable that 1 of the shocks is broken on the bottom.
Remove drum drive belt, and spin drum by hand, if there is any resistance,. or it feels rough or noisy, the the main bearigs have probably failed.
If it is o/k then check motor for worn or noisy bearings,

Thanks.
I don't know this model at all, but hada similar set of syptoms on an electrolux .....
Just a thought, but have you checked the pump chanber is not impeded by a stray hairgrip, or bit of wire?
The fact it doesn't pump when it should, but allows water to pass when the centrifugal force of a spin cycle builds up, would indicate that maybe its the pump that either has a jammed impeller, or a blown motor (or fuse).
Most noises from a washing machine occur during the spin cycle. If you hear loud thumping/or sound during the spin, the load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the clothes, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary.
You probably need new shocks for the washer as they break over time. They cost $37 each and you can replace them your self. If you don't fix these you may end up breaking the motor controller and while the part may be covered under the warranty the diagnostic and labor is not.
I bought the frigidaire affinity washer. It was quiet until it began the spin cycle, then it sounded like a jet taking off and began to bounce. Come to find out we set it up improperly. You must remove all shipping bolts on the back of the machine and make sure it is level. Ta Da!! it now runs perfectly quiet with little vibration.
