You may find a power cord at Radio Shack, or go to www.jvc.com contact customer support and the technical department for answers.

SOURCE: need a power supply cord

There's nothing special about the original power cord, so I'd go to Radio Shack and get it for $8

SOURCE: put in the wrong email

I looked at a picture of the rear of your player and it takes a standard power cord commonly used on boomboxes and similar products. Radio Shack carries a suitable replacement.Their website says it's available in most stores. You might also try thrift/resale shops in your area where cords are often for sale. (I think I have a couple of these cords. If you want to email a postal address to [email protected] I'll be happy to send one if I do.)

Had some power surges and now the unit (XL-MC344) wont turn on. Can't seem to locate a fuse, afraid something more on a component level but have no schematics.

There is a fuse in this unit but it will require a soldering iron to change it. Fuses are rarely the problem. This unit uses a switch mode power supply along with a small transformer for the standby voltage. It is possible that the internal fuse for the standby transformer has opened. The fix for this would be to replace the transformer. This is a common problem with lightning strikes and power surges. WIthout seeing the actual unit, I can't say that this is the problem for sure, but it is likely. Please note that JVC service manuals are not usually available outside of Authorized service centers.

If you can update this with your location, perhaps I can direct you to a local service center.

XL-MC2000BK won't do anything

I had the same problem - I sent the piece of junk back. In the manual, it tells you to disconnect and reconnect the AC power cord - that didn't work and after writing JVC, I didn't hear back, so the unit goes back. What a piece of crap.
