Same problem happened today with my stackable washer/dryer model MLE2000AWY. I keep restarting and it drains, but won't do the spin. Hearing a sort of knocking sound like pipes in the wall and it shuts off.
You need to check and see if the door-lock light is on ,if not then you have either a faulty door lock mech. or a defective solid state board in the control panel

Before wasting money on a timer that wont be returnable once it is removed from the packaging please respond to me and tell me does the washer do everything including draining, and the only thing it will do not do is spin or will it wash but not drain and spin their are 2 posibilities based on your response and neither is the timer

so ya know i have beena appliance repair technician for over 30 years
3 year old GE stackable washing machine, had water coming out the top and would not drain or go through cycle, when shut off it drained a little but when turned on again it filled up and over flowed.
We have had that happen too. You will need to take out what ever has blocked the valve on the drain. Ours was a bobby pin! My model is a bit different but if you follow the drain hose underneath you can find it. Remember you are dealing with lots of water. I think I scooped out the water first and have some towels ready. Or hire somebody to do it for you. I hope that helps.
