Sony releases new firmware for the bdp-s350 ever so often to let it play newer movies. The last one can be downloaded from here firmware. Be sure to contact Sony with any problems so they can work on it for the next firmware. They are pretty good about updates as long as we let them know of any problems we are having.
If you are continuing to have problems let me know by sending me a message in the comments and I will go from there. I will get back to you as soon as possible.
As far as I know, it should work if you use a Div x codec, you then need to load it via pc and convert to Div X. The player will the promp route. All you do is press enter and select from the list.
I tried all the fixes out on the net and called sony product support.
They offerered to sell a different refurbished product for $150 plus
shipping and handling. I WILL NEVER BUY A SONY AGAIN.
After the movie loads and shows "play" highlighted. And only then, press the stop button and then press the play button and the movie should play...hope this helps.
The software updates for your Sony BDP-S350 can be found at their website here. You will need to download the file, burn it to a disc and then load the disc into your player to upgrade its software to play your new blu-ray movie.
I just had a chat session with Sony and the BDP-350 Blu Ray can not stream video from Netflix or Amazon. Julie_> Welcome to Sony Online Support. I'm Julie. Please allow me a moment to review your concern.
Julie_> Thanks for waiting, xxxx. I'll be glad to assist you with the information about the compatibility of the Blu-ray Player to stream the videos.
Julie_> I'm very sorry to inform you that the Blu-ray Player is not compatible to stream the videos from netflix.
Julie_> Only the BD-Live feature of the Blu-ray discs played in the Blu-ray Player can be streamed.
Julie_> At this point of time there are no Firmware updates available to make it compatible to stream the videos through Netflix. 12/2/2009
I had the same issue. it is not recognizing the disc. I called in and I am having to send it in for servicing. The message you are getting is because the only option you are getting is the BD data one and not the one to play the disc.
They are (despite printed DVD Region 3, BD Region A) all DVD region free. Tested on mine (bought in Thailand).
Panasonic BD30 was also DVD Region free. The firmware for that one is available from Panasonic website. Not sure if there's another way than automatic update from inside BD player to upgrade Sony.
