Kitchenaid superba ksrg25fkwh01 wire harness

The wire harness to freezer door and dispenser is broken from overuse. Kitchen aid refuses to acknowledge design flaw. I have tried to splice wires but they keep breaking. Can't find the part number and how to take off door to replace wire harness.

SOURCE: Freezer and icemaker freezes, jams.

I have run into this before and found it very helpful to re-level the refrigerator. By leaning the fridge back toward the wall about an inch helped keep the water and ice in the tray. Remember to remove items that block air flow in the freezer. Remove the ice bin and clean it then start over with the fridge leaning back a little. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Can I replace the freezer door seal on a kitchen aid myself?

some door gaskets snap into a track and others are held on to by screws in a metal frame. you can pull the back of the gasket apart to see which you have.

are you sure that the gasket is bad? you can do the dollar bill test by placing a dollar bill between the gasket and door frame and shutting the door. if the dollar bill fits snugly and is not loose the gasket is good. However you may be able to look at your gasket and see that it is torn or warped and not sealing good.

replacing the door gasket can be a little tricky but with a little patience and some very hot water to soak the new gasket in to make it easier to work with, you should be ok.

keep the bottom of your refrigerator and freezer frames clean (this is where everything spills and gets sticky) to keep the gasket from sticking to the frame and tearing up over time.

I have the same problem, if you take off the cover at the bottom of the unit on the left side you will find 6 wires inside a plastic braid, my guess is that you will find some or all of the wires broken, this is due to poor design. they break by simply opening and closing the door. I have contacted kitchenaid and their response is more or less "tough luck". You may have to replace the entire freezer door, good luck

Dispenser in door inop

i would look to the wire harness under hinge(its hidden in a plastic webbing), 7 or 8 wires running through hinge creating a pinch point and shearing wire(s), only solution offered by kit aid is door replacement (harness not available, molded into door) but at close to $700 for a new door, some well placed solder mends to the connections will work quite well( wire nuts to big)

Kitchenaid Architect Side by Side Ice/Water Dispenser problems

most common place fora problem is in wire harness under freezer door hinge, within the weblike wireharnes likly to find a broken or split wire. before lookin for it follow harness back a few inches and unplug the harness connector(just incase you hit a live wire you'll short somethin out. its not the easiest place to do it but you would need to remove the screws attaching it to hinge, perhaps cut a plastic wire tie to reconnect wire, straigh wire connector only way, not enough room for wire nut,,,That is if you find a broken wire of course. Oh by the way wire harness not replaceable need toorder complete freezer door , only ohter repair

At the top left hinge there shuld be a cover over the hinge. Remove that cover and check to see if plug connectors are securly plugged together. Double check the right top wall of the refrigerator section and verify the model # I did not locate info on the model you posted.

I had two (2) broken wires in the harness. I don't think you actually have to take the door off. It may be a little cramped working, but I think it can be done. Once you take off the bottom grill, find the end of the harness next to the water filter and unplug the white plug. Just below that is a ground wire. Remove the screw and take the green wire off. Then, next to that is a white "c-clip" holding the harness against the bottom of the refrigerator. Remove that clamp and you should have enough "play" to work on the harness. (It is probably a pain in the #*@ to remove the entire harness because it runs into a hole in the bottom of the door and then up through the door itself) You'll have to cut away the black mesh sleeve over the harness. I cut it with a pair of wire cutters as close to where the harness goes into the door as possible. There may also be a bit of black electrical tape at the end of the mesh closest to the white plug. Remove that, and you should be able to slide the mesh sleeve off, over the plug. This should reveal the broken wires. I just took some 12 gauge braided wire and cut a couple of pieces
