I own a hitachi av surround reciever model No. HTA-DD3W. It has recently developed a problem in that it does not play in any other mode than stereo, ie no surround sound, multi stereo etc. please help

Hi amstok

Sounds like it may have a DSP failure. Straight stereo signals bypass the DSP stages. Could be an expensive fix. I suggest you take it to a Hitachi agent for a quote. Not something that can be easily fixed on the kitchen table I am afraid.

Can I hook my pioneer ax-311r stereo receiver to Samsung Tv and surround sounds.

Hello Bernard, your Pioneer AX-311, is a two-channel, stereo amplifier, you can connect your Samsung TV, if it has audio output L and R, to an input of the Pioneer, say for the AUX input, what will get, is to listen to the sound of the TV in your Pioneer, in stereo, two channels, you can not have surround sound, because your Pioneer does not have that benefit
At the most, you can hear the sound of Samsung on the TV and the amplifier simultaneously, and you will hear a sound delay between the Pioneer and the Samsung
I hope my answer was useful

Hitachi tv sound problems

If you are running this through a cable box then you need to run a separate pair of audio from the box output to the input of the TV. If This is from a stereo system then you need to run audio from the cable box to the stereo component and select the proper input after it is turned on.

Sound only from left front and right front speakers possibly my projection screen tv is only 2.1 channel does this mean i cannot have surround

surround receivers are supposed to be able to turn a stereo signal into a surround signal.  if the surround unit is producing just a stereo sound, then the tv is most likely outputting in mono, and not stereo; or there is no surround sound to decode..
