Be careful. examine the flash for physical damages. if it appear to be intact, you could try turning it on and see if you can fire with the test button. remember, this flash is high-voltage. do not attempt to fix it yourself. if it's not working, you have to service it.

Can the wansen trigger/receiver be used with canon 580ex?

The Wansen RF-602 for canon can.
Check what Wansen has to say. Eventually use Google to find what test sites like DPreview has to say about triggers.

580ex won't communicate with Canon 7D (Because I dropped it)

Not sure about the repair costs but why not invest in a Phottix Odin wireless system? I use them in my work and they perform flawlessly. Small and lightweight plus they are wireless which means that the camera can communicate through windows and walls etc.
Hope this helps

SPEEDLITE 580EX TTL Flash: flash is making a constant beating/clicking noise ...

Loosen the two small screws under the flash on the swivel head. Turn flash on. You may need to twist the head just slightly. Flash bulb moves back and forth in the swivel head when zooming. If you dropped the flash, this may have jarred it from the track. I had the same problem with mine, and the above solution fixed it. Zoom works again and no clicking noise. Let me know.

My 580EX seems to have low power

Hi Doug,

Try putting in 4 brand new batteries Lithium Energizer.
Or feed the Turbo Battery into the 3 pins port.

You flash is over 5 years old.
Or your NiMh are no longer holding a charge.
Do you have a DVM?
