My problem too, solved it easy, couldn't believe it, a pen had fallen in the paper feed slot, I didn't think it possible, couldn't see it until I took it to bits, be careful but worth a look

SOURCE: paper feed issues

Yeah i tried the cardboard as well...it didnt work first time. but as i had no other choice, i did it 2-3 more times and eventually i heard a lot of noise and to my surprise my mailbox key popped out covered in ink...
so the cardboard seems to be the magical solution. not only does the printer work again but i also found my key!

SOURCE: Canon i9950 feed issues

  1. Turn the printer off and open the access cover.
  2. Look for any obstructions in the paper path and remove them if necessary. (It is possible to move the carrier assembly with the power off.)
  3. Turn the printer on, load some paper, and press the Form Feed button.
  4. Watch the paper as it feeds through and try to determine where the jam is occurring.
  5. Check to see if all the rollers are turning.

If all the rollers are turning, there may be something in the feed path that you can't see. Go to step 6.
If not, there is probably a feed motor or a gear problem and the printer may require service.
  6. If the paper is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot.
  7. Turn the printer off.
  8. Take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the manual feed slot until it comes right through the printer to the back of the exit rollers.
  9. Move it up and down first, and then slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate, this may work it loose.

SOURCE: Paper not feeding into printer: pulls to the right and jambs

Normal 0 I suggest you get a sheet of Card Stock (Heavy paper) and place it in the feed way. Then press the print button applying a slight amount of pressure on the Card Stock so it will feed through the printer. The reason for this is in some cases I have been able to clear the paper track of debris that was deposited there over time.
Worth a try, as I have fixed a number of printers this way, saving costly repairs.
Hope this helps. Bud

SOURCE: Error E3 when no paper jam

MP160 PIXMA paper feed jam E3 error. I completely solved this on my Canon MP160 printer but it is a common problem and the fix may work for others such as MP130 MP140 MP145 MP150 MP170 or MP180. With the problem I had, the printer would make the usual motor whirring noises but would not feed the paper. The usual c-clunk sound that indicated the feed roller has been engaged was not there. The screen warning said to remove jammed paper and the printer showed an E3 error.

The problem was caused by the ink cartridge carrier becoming stcky on its track and not fully returning to the rest position on the right side (as viewed from the front). The fix involved taking the printer apart and lubricating the cartridge carrier track and the ramps that lift the cradle that rises to cover the printheads. Unfortunately you have to dismantle the printer and separate the scanner unit to get to the lubrication points. Its not a quick fix.

When you have the printer apart you will see a prominent white lever held by a coiled spring just behind the rest position of the ink cartridge carrier. The lever is actuated by the ink cartridge carrier when it moves to the right. If the lever is not actuated, the motor drive will never engage the large grey feed roller and the paper in the hopper cannot be fed into the printer. Make sure to also put some lube onto the lever at the point where it is struck by the ink cartridge carrier.

Paper misfeeding on one side but printer keeps printing with no paper

Look for any foriegn objects or old torn paper from an earlier jam. Something is either obstructing or mis-guiding the paper. If nothing is found, use a can of compressed air to blow thr paper intake area out, then test print again.

If still not solved, use a cottom swan soaked in alcohol to scrub clean the rubber paper pickup roller. Over time it gets slick from paper dust and the paper will notget grabbed evenly, causing it to skew as it's pulled in.

Hello there,

This is called a false paper jam. normally, a reset is required for this.

Hold the power button for 30 seconds and this should prompt a shut down.

next, make sure that the rollers are clean inside. use a lint free sloth and some distilled water. Dampen the cloth (Q-tips works fine too, please do not use cotton) and rub the rollers.

Then as it dires up. turn the printer on and do a test page.

Please don't forget to leave a feedback and testimony if it works.

HP OJ 6310 - scan/fax feeder won't pull through paper for scan/fax. Have tried cleaning rollers to no avail. Can you help??

There are two types of jams.
Physical, A physical obstruction is preventing the paper from gettin through.

Timing, the paper does not reach a given piont in a given period of time.

Physical jams can be the easier of the two, look for anything out of place, check the lead edge of the paper, is it dented or damaged? if so line up the damage with the feeder open and see if you can locate the problem, it does not need to be a foriegn object, it could be a guide mylar that is damaged or out of place.

Timing are are where the original does not show any signs of damage, the machine just stops.
This can be caused by feed tires, feed motor or clutch, or sensors,
Check the condition of the rollers, rollers generally have a rippled surface, if the rollers are bald and or have become concave. they are worn out.
Clean the rollers with a rubber cleaner or alcohol, clean the paper path with alcohol, check for sticky areas, adhesives from post its or signature flags.
Clean the scan glass with a good glass cleaner.

Blow out sensors with compressed air (Computer Duster), if sensors have an actuator arm, ensure the arm is in place and moves freely.

Give this a try.
Hope it is of some help.

Paper pulls to the right, jams, won't print, tried different paper still won't print

Hi,
Sounds like the feed rollers need cleaning.
Clean the feed rollers, lint free cloth, bottled water.
wait for them to properly dry

Revolve the feed roller bar as you clean them, to clean the feed rollers all the way round, remove all particles from them.

Check you ADF grips are set correctly, if not you will get mis-fed sheets. check the tray is sat properly too or mis-feeds.

Check paper size is correct in print properties too.
Should be good then
Try print.

Regards
Richard.
