When I turn on my lap top it reads this message Operating System not found
Try booting your operating system from a disc. you can usually get a copy from your local pc store. I had a similar situation before and my computer was all jumbled. come to find out my hard drive was fried so my pc obviously couldnt find my OS

Yep, your operating system has crashed, not your hard drive, but the windows on the hard drive..
simply boot from your windows cd / dvd and choose upgrade as the instillation type or leave current file systems intact so as you install windows over again, you dont loose your previous data..

the laptop is unable to read operating sistem from disk - you have to try to insert recovery disk after changing in the bios (you can read on laptop manual how come in bios for changing to first boot is hard disk to first boot is cdrom or dvd or cd ) after that you can try to recovery the operating sistem - it may be not so easy delfo

You're on the right track. For whatever reason it failed an operating system repair is in order. You need to use the same operating system XP Home / Pro / MCE as was originally on the unit. Mayve a relative of friend. Don't use restore disks. These will erase everything on the drive.
