A low 125 Hz hum is coming out of the speaker anytime it is powered on. It is not receiving signal from anywhere, nothing is plugged in except power. Tried using a ground lift and that did not help. Any ideas?
Its most likely bad capacitors inside the monitor. take it apart and look for 2 big black caps, there located right by the plug for the power supply on the PCB. they should say 25v 6800 uf.
if they are bulging out on the top and or have goo oozing out of them, there bad. these caps commonly go bad in these monitors because there rated WAY too low.
If you have to replace them, id go with some 50v 6800uf caps. they will be bigger and you'll have to solder leads and mount them elsewhere off the PCB, but you will NEVER have to change them again in your lifetime! (prevented no one else messes with it! )
• Turn down the volume.
• Lower the 40 Hz and 125 Hz equalizer levels in the Manual MCACC setup on page 34.
• Try switching on the digital safety feature (put the receiver into standby, hold down the SYSTEM SETUP button on the front panel and press STANDBY/ON to switch between SAFETY ON and SAFETY OFF
. If the power switches off even with SAFETY ON selected, turn down the volume.
