My brother mfc 240 makes an awful noise when I try to print, and the display says to check the troubleshooting and routine maintenance chapter in the user guide, which I don't have. Any idea how to fix the problem or where I can get a user guide?
Thanks,
Roger

you need a new waist ink absorber box and have to do a reset. The absorber box can be purgchased from a service partner (see brother homepage of your country). Same procedure:

Access the internal maintenance mode by pressing the Menu/Set button, then press * 2 8 6 4 within 2 seconds. This should put you in the maintenance mode menu. Enter 80, then scroll down with the arrow down (round) key. You'll find an entry listed as purge count. If number is over 6000, enter 2 7 8 3.
This will reset the purge count value. Then the printer will restart,
try this step by step.without missing any thing.
thanks

Open the top cover and hold the interlock switch on the top right hand corner. Power up and wait for the carriage to come to the center. Shine a flashlight all the way to the right and left and pull out the crumpled paper. You should be able to print again..
