I will take a shot at your problem and assume you are using a HDMI cable. First you need to turn the PS3 on by the switch on the PS3. Then press and hold the On/Off button on the PS3, keeping it pressed until you here a clear beep and then a couple of seconds after you should hear a second beep. Once you hear the second beep take your finger off the button. Now as long as you are on the correct HDMI channel the rest should be on the screen for you to complete.
Please Note - If you have it working on a particular TV, then decide to unplug the PS3 and put it on another TV, there is a very good chance it will be blank again. This is normal because each TV has different setting, pixels, size, etc, and the HDMI has to be set to each individual TV. Once you get use to the settings. It takes no more than 1 minute to do.
Cheers, and hopefully this will solve your problem.
this is a very simple fix leave cords in your sony with ps3 on standby hold the power button on ps3 itself down for 10sec your ps3 will switch back to av cables
Re-Set the PS-3, by pressing and holding down the power button (front panel) this hard re-sets the unit and yo can then reconfigure via the composite video cable it came with, back to HDMI / DVI
What probably happened is a problem with the HDMI cable. It must have a gouge, or an internal slash. If you get a new HDMI cable, it will work fine.
Hope this Helped.
had the same problem get a new cable its not the tv its the ps3 if the cable is tight in the ps3 it works fine or if you set the ps3 just right the cable will fit fine and work
turn on ps3 leave on stand by (red light), hold eject button and power button until you hear beeps and a message appears. connect controller and press ps button. system restore screen should appear, select restart system and from there it should restore everything back to normal. This worked for me, for clear instruction go to http://blogallalong.com/2008/12/05/ps3-green-light-on-and-system-wont-start/#comment-31058
