The HPs are notorious for not recognizing the cartridge after a few replacements in my experience. On the information screen is it saying the cartridge is not in or ink is low? You can have the machine, through the menu, do a cleaning of the heads. If this does not work then I have a low tech solution to fix the seating of the cartridge. I put a wadded up paper towel in the door to hold the cartridges firmly in place and the printer reads it fine then. I do have a different model than what you are showing but there has to be a way.

The printer doesn't print all the in their entirety. Some lines are fine but many are not.

Think you need a new print head which is a component in your printer. Canon ink cartridges just contain ink. HP, on the other hand, have ink cartridges with the print head built in to the ink cartridge so that every time you buy a cartridge you basically have a new printer.

False ink empty

Are you sure its exclamation mark?..
This warning message related to print head. (warn out). When you are replacing ink tube assembly use dummy print heads to do the priming (new ink tubes are empty & they have to fill with ink)..
Action: Remove all cartridges and print heads, switch on the printer follow the screen message.(Insert cartridges first next dummy print heads).once its recognizes cartridges then it switch over to print heads, insert dummy print heads. Once printer recognized the dummy print heads, printer will perform priming, during priming dummy print heads will filled with respective inks.(follow the display message)Remove dummy print heads & insert normal print heads. Wait till printer recognizes print heads, load the paper & wait till performs the calibration, once calibration is successfully done issue closed.
If calibration not successfully done, check align print out for which print head is not printed properly, replace it..
Pl ensure that minimum 50% ink levels required in cartridges before performing the priming. Best of luck..

My printer is not printing out any black ink onto paper. Only the color is printing out onto paper. I put two brand new cartridges in for the black ink and color ink, and it says that the ink levels are...

You need to take it a couple steps further after your test print. Sounds like your print heads need cleaning or your cartridge may need aligning. It’s best to do this each time you install a new cartridge. for more information….... http://en.kioskea.net/forum/affich-40171-printer-not-printing-black

It is not printing using black ink. I have

Sounds like your black print head may be clogged. You can get a new one from Precision Roller for $60. Another fact that would confirm that your print head is clogged is if you let the printer sit for more than a few weeks without printing with it.

Changed ink cartridges cannot print alignment page, out of ink

You need to reset the ink level before the printer can print further, to do these please follow the following step:
1) Goto the Lexmark Solution Center application.
2) Press button Maintenance>Install a new print cartridge, follow the instruction on screen. U may then have your new full ink level. Note: u only can reset to full level, cannot customize the level by your own.
Then try again with printing alignment task.
Hope this help.

Only black prints

It will only get worse. Do a google search and you will find out the print head is defective. After a multitude of complains, Brother has a more reliable print head for a fix. I'm not fixing mine. I've already invested too much in ink because of the auto cleaning it is programmed to perform.
A built in print head vs. a printer that has the ink tank and print head combined sounds like a good idea. The ink tanks are cheaper because they don't have the electronics built in and you only replace one color at a time. The problem is the print head clogs after several ink tanks have gone through them. Now, instead of paying $40 for a new ink cartridge with built in print head, you are paying for the ink that is wasted by all the required automatic cleanings, and eventually taking the printer to the repair shop for a new print head (parts and labor average $150) that may fail at any time.
My advice is to avoid any further headaches and buy a HP. Don't rely on good reviews, Consumer Reports rated this model a best buy.

Colored Ink problem

Make sure the printer settings are set properly to print in color on the PC. Even if there is a color cartridge, if the PC only tells it to print black ink it's not going to use the color cartridge.
