Charger works, red light on phone and green light on charger, but the display screen dose not power up no tone. the iridium sim card in it may have expired, and i have tried both batteries, it worked then stopped. the batteries may be old, i could try buying a new on?
1.Check the device's battery level for at least two bars of strength.
2.If the battery level is low, charge the battery.
3.If the issue is not resolved, remove the back cover.
4.Remove the battery.
5.Wait 10 seconds.
6.Press and hold the W key.
7.While pressing down the W key, re-insert the battery.
•The device restarts and after approximately 15 seconds, the 'Recovery' screen appears
•Release the power button but *continue holding the home button*, for another 30 seconds.

there is a good chance that the charging port on your phone isn't working and it is not charging the battery.
SOURCE: phone turns off, dose not respond to the key pad
If it's always doing this your On/Off button might not work. To know if this is the problem when open press on it and you will see if it ask you for something then it not broken it will be more the software who need to be fix.

Ok...don't panic. The charger you are using is not compatible. Verizon only works with verizon blackberry's. Non verizon will not work with blackberry and vice versa. This is what will happen. you plug it in and it will boot for a few seconds and then the lightning bolt you see is the charge icon and then a red line in it means that charger is not compatable. Blackberry does make its own charger but there is a "pin" on the plug in that will tell it it is not the right one. Am I confusing you?

This issue means your software on your device is corrupt. It will need to be reloaded from a PC. This is very possible tho, unfortunately it sounds like the data on the phone is probably gone.
Reference the video I have linked to below for a walkthru on how to do this.
