How to remove back cover of ViewSonic G71F+. First remove the 3 screws at the bottom , one on each side and one above the VGA cable. Now look for three small slots on the top of the monitor near the screen. From the side opposite the screen insert 2 medium-small flat blade screwdrivers into the center slot and the slot on one side at an angle of about 25 degrees from the top plane of the monitor then gently pry up by pushing the screwdriver handles toward the top plane of the monitor. Once the plastic latch in the center and one side are released move the screwdriver on the side to the opposite side to release that side.
gregmclure1, Most rear covers kind of snap-apart from the front plastic bezel. need to remove pedestal first. Best thing to do ,go visit YOUTUBE view typical "LCD monitor disassembly" and or "LCD monitor repair" videos FYI. PROTECT THE LCD PANEL AT ALL TIMES!! You may even find a video of someone working on a VIEWSONIC monitor. Hope this helps. If it does, then rate this on fixya.

ps What will you be working on once the back is removed? Do you know what to look for?
I was equally frustrated by this, but eventually figured it out. There are two finger-sized slots on the bottom of the panel covering the monitor's connections. Push them in (towards the top of the monitor) and lift the cover away from the back of the monitor.
there might be screws behind the foot. remove the foot base first...then look to see. alot of these screens are pressure tab case fasteners.they use screws to lock in the cover. after that a smakk flat screwdriver along the lower sides will reveal is the cover is tab fixed .\ good luck
Did you remove the base from the back? If so, there are two stating slots at the bottom of the screen. A fine blade screwdriver will release these tabs. Once down, the front bezel will pull away but you'll need a flat blade screwdriver (preferably made out of plastic). Slide this screwdriver between the front bezel and the screen frame which is metal. Don't allow the driver to get next to the screen because it will scratch easily. Using the driver you'll be able to pry away the bezel from the rear.
You have to remove the base at the bottom (4 screws), all the screws on the back, then use a thin flat-head screwdriver or other thin brybar and work around the back panel unlatching the snaps that are in place.
After the back cover is off, the metal cover over the board and power supply can be removed by removing the screws around the outside lip of the cover, along with the screws on the bottom and right hand lip of the raised area in the back.
