To reset your Sony BDP-S300,
When the power is ON, hold down the button between 'pause' and 'fast rewind' buttons, on the front panel of the player and press the 'Power" button on the frnt panel itself. No remote control function is required. The player will turn 'OFF" and all of the settings will return to their factory defaults. OK.

unplug the player from wall for 5-10min......plug it back up, press stop/eject (you might have to reset the time/date)

I'm having exactly the same issue with the OPPO BDP-83 player. I'm going to try the firmware upgrade. I'm having a similar problem with Minority Report. I cannot see a play option at all!

FW Found means "FirmWare Found".
An update to the blu-ray player was located and they want you to download to update your player's firmware.
After it updates, power OFF your player, wait a couple of minutes and power ON. This is like re-booting.
