After washing, the clothes have excessive lint on them. a real fine covering which is next to impossible to get off. is there a lint filter is the washer somewhere that should be cleaned? also the tub seems to smell funny even though I wash clothes everyday and occassionally clean with vinegar and hot water. Help!!!
There is many solutions that work some. The best analogy I have seen is to reduce the wash time as the newer soaps are more efficient at removing dirt which also softens the fabric. Any excess in soap regardless of type in combination with water type will cause an odor, why is the contaminents in the water plus the junk on are clothes to be polite. It builds up under the basket and along the top water line in the tub plus creates a film from the tub through the hoses, pump and house drain. Lint is a product of excess washing and too much soap. Whirlpool stated for there front loaders no more than two TBL of liquid soap which is like 3/8 cup max for the old top loader. SearsTechToo
You might want to check out some washing machine repair videos (www.youtube.com/watch?v=djJQhM-R8JQ). I had a problem with excessive lint in the washer and didn't know where the lint filter was located so I could clean it. Or whatever. The video I watched was very clear and well presented. I identified my washing machine's problem & the solutioon. There is no "one size fits all" solution. All these washing machines are different.
I just repaired a roper dryer for some folks. they where complaining of the same things.. mostly the lint problem. i used to do repairs many years ago but this is the first one of the ropers i have dealt with.. i took a look at the washer.... from what i can see there is no lint filter at all on the ras models
i pulled the agitator and it was clean under it.. my suggestion to them is you will have to lighten the loads as the machine starts to age... the pump is starting to wear and not pulling the water off as fast
when the water has time to settle as it is being pulled down its leaving that fine lint.
it looks to me like whirlpool has done away with the good filter canister of years past.. new pumps might be the only answer.. try remembering when your machine started doing it.. at 1yr. or 3 years.. theres is about 2 years.. just started noticing it...
i have a 30 year old kenmore.. made by whirlpool... it squeaks.. howls.. just sounds terrible.. but it still out washes anything on the market... good luck with the new junk.. hope this helps
Cant't help you with the lint. only filter is the drain pump filter which you should check regularly. are you using liquid detergent? if so this can be the source of the smell. put on hottest wash and use powder

There is excessive lint on clothes after every wash - I have no idea what the source of the lint is; no matter what I wash or what temperature or what type of detergent, there is lint on the clothes. I was hoping there was some sort of filter that was malfunctioning that I could fix
The writing above the controls is fast wearing off. Cannot read it. the front of the machine and no filter seems to be fitted. doesn't wash clothes clean.
