yes the 2 watt resistor is actually better than the 1 watt. They will both work in place of each other. The important part are the ohms they have to be exactly the same.

Sounds like your convergence circuits shorted and took out the resistors. This is fairly common.

This is a common problem. Its called a convergence failure.

Problem #1) Convergence

Symptoms:

• Screen Looks 3D
• Colors wont align
• Video may look distorted

Problem #2 CRT Fluid has clouded over. Symtoms

• Dull looking video
• White looking video
• Halos around objects
• Red/Orange looking video

The PDP ( plasma display panel) is defect.You can look for badly soldered SMD resistors on the COF panels wich are located at the bottom of the screen.
Beware,the flatcables wich the resistors are located on are verry fragile!

you can replace the plug and resistor but make sure you remove any carbon that may of happened,you should be able to scrape it off.if you dont have any luck repost with part number.

If you can still see the color bands around the resistor the you can go to this site and get the value by inputting the colors.

alot of people make the mistake of putting two STK392-150 Ics in the Hitachi , and most times it will not work unless you change all the convergence resistors.. If youre going to upgrade hitachi to anything other than the stock ICs, it is recomended by Hitachi to use the STK394-160 ICs but then you have to change the ratings on the resistors. They are parallel in circuit and measure around 2 ohms when ok. Check the fuse associated with that circuit. FD101S 3.5 A
