Check the Printer Driver settings to be sure it's not set to replace black with grayscale. There are drivers out there that can override this and make grayscale black and vice versa.
Troubleshoot: Print the configuration sheet from the printer. Then print a letter from the PC. If the printer configuration uses black for letters, and if the PC uses gray for the letter then it's a driver settings (or application setting) issue. You'll need to figure out which it is and reconfigure to use/allow black.
Which application are you using to print? What type of document are you printing? Letter (alpha-numeric only)? Or presentation (multiple colors)?

Same problem. New toner cartridge and imaging unit. The black is coming in light. We had the toner provider come by to check, since we bought generic toner and thought that it might be the toner. His guess was that whatever mechanism is relaying the toner to the imaging unit isn't working.
