E2: You chose a stitch other than a buttonhole stitch or a bar tack
stitch and you tried to sew with the buttonhole lever in the lowered
position. Raise the buttonhole lever.
E3: If you selected the buttonhole or tack bar stitch and start to
sew with the buttonhole lever raised, you will get the E3 code. Lower
the buttonhole lever.
E4: You hit the reverse button while the bobbin winder shaft was
moved over to the right. Move the bobbin winder shaft to the left.
E5: On automatic sewing machines, the start/stop button was pressed
while the foot controller was plugged in. Unplug the foot controller if
you are using the automatic function.
E6: This code tells you that the motor locked up because the thread
is tangled. Untangle the thread, make sure the machine is threaded
properly and that the proper tension is set before continuing.

The safety device will activate if the machine has a bind or is unable to run at correct speed. If you turn the handwheel is it tight/hard to turn? if it is than thats it. Now what is binding the machine has to be diagnosed.

actually e2 is the button hole lever being down. e6 means that the thread is tangled and to prevent the motor from overheating the machine automatically stops. All you have to do is re-thread the machine and take the bobbin out, untangle it and put it back in and sew. This usually works. If it keeps happening, there could be a few things wrong.
1. if you are using thick fabric your tension should be lower. normal tension is 5.
2. your machine is out of alignment. take it in to a service center, they can fix it in 5 minutes. to find a service center near you go to http://www.brother-usa.com/service/
3. your needle is old or bent and should be replaced.
4. Your needle is too thick, standard is 80. The thicker the fabric, the thicker the needle.

I believe these are the UL code and serial number. If there is a display band of decorative stitches on the front of your machine look on the bottom right of that panel. If the number there is a VX-920 there is no manual available for it BUT you can use the manual from the VX 970 which IS available. Do a search for that model manual in Spanish and you should find one.
