I Fixed Mine!!! I found that the part that spins and reads the dvds was bad. Luckly i had a spare changer at home to test this. I took it apart and got this info from the part that i replaced.

try cleaning the OPTICAL lens directly with a Qtip , gently clean it from any debris , and try again , the procedure shouldnt be hard to open it up , good luck , thanks AJ
I had this problem and I found out that the cable I had bought that fit both the Escient and Sony changer wasnt the right one. I went to Fry's and bought one that said null modem on it and file transfer. Then it found the changer and all started coming together
