Lexmark z2420 printer will not print anything, not event test page, how do i fix it?

try completey removeing the software (even in the regestry) and then the driver, then get the driver again from the internet.

I had a problem with mine also. It kept giving me an unsupported cartridge error. I finally took it back to the store and exchanged it. The replacement works fine.

First make certain a USB cable is attached to your printer and to your USB. The windows install device will tell you it has located new equipment and ask if you want Windows to install it. If you didn't go through this before, allow Windows to install it. Use the disk that came with the printer if you have it. (Make sure the drivers on the disk will run on Vista. The disk should tell you. Lexmark 7100 series was introduced a ways back).

If you've gone through this, and you know it is installed correctly, with the proper drivers, go to "Control Panel". Choose Device manager, and click open "Ports (Com &LPT).

Choose Communications Port (Com 1). Opening that will give you the Properties page. Click Resources at the top of the page. About halfway down the page will be a small box that says "Use Automatic Settings". Make sure this is clicked. It gives Window permission to find and use the best generic drivers for your printer, among other things.

At the bottom should be another box entitled Conclicting Device List.
It should say in the box "No Conflicts." Click OK to exit that box if all is well. Next, go back to Control Panel again. Look for and choose "Printers". Among other selections, you should see an icon of a printer that says Lexmark 7100 series. That should have a big green checkmark by it in a circle. If it doesn't, click on the icon and a small box will open in the upper left hand corner.

It should say "Lexmark 7100 Series". If it does, click on Printer, then click add as default printer. Then when you close the box you shouls see the icon marked Lexmark 7100 series, with the green checkmark inside a circle.

If you don't see all these things wirite back and we will take the next step.

I think your printer need a reset.

please follow the steps:

1. remove the cartridges on the carrier then wipe or clean the cartridges with wet cloth.
also clean the gold connectors on the cartridges, and on the carrier also.
2. return the cartridges on the printer.
3. Turn On your printer and then OFF it by pulling the cord from the outlet.
4. Turn it On and do align cartridges.
