I can't remember exactly how I started answering questions.
1) You can contact fixya. Do a google seach for 'contact fixya?'
Here is long answer:
2) I think I began in the following way: Down at bottom of page are categories, example such as computers and electronics.
Select a category and a page comes up with subset of topics.
Click on one of those subsets, and another page comes up showing more specific list of products, with 'problems/solutions.'
Select problems. And a list of problems comes up, and these are usually dated, and not the current list of problems.
Click one of the problems:
Start answering these problems, and fixya monitors the quality of answers.
3) At some point I discovered 'My Home' page by clicking on my sign-in name at top right corner of page.
Was it always there? Maybe, and I just didn't notice.
Currently, I click on my name to arrive at 'My Home'
And the My Home link appears on left side of page short ways down from top of page.
My Home is evidently unique to my IP address, and sign in.
Maybe you have that page already.
Below link for My Home is link for Answer, My products, My Friends.
I click on Answer link and expanded menu appears with general topic categories. And a full list of current questions appears.
Or click on a topic from the expanded menu, and list of current questions appears about the specific topic.
Click on any question to read the question, and below question is answer box where you answer current question.
Many times the questions are posted under products that have nothing to do with the question. For example automotive questions posted under water heaters. etc
I do not control what questions are filtered to my IP address, but am reasonably certain that I see a selected number of questions asked under that category.
4) How do you find a specific question that was asked and answered before, so that you can add a comment?
Contact fixya?
Otherwise, I don't know. Unless you google search the exact same question, and the link at fixya shows up in the search parameter, and then you can add a comment.
5) Add a webpage to your website that is titled exactly like the question, and maybe google will link to that page.

SOURCE: Search engine on fixya throws answers too generic to be of use
Depending on the amount of search terms (words) you are entering into the search box, you will get an assortment of results - some relative to the exact phrase, others relative to certain keywords.
So the fact that you're looking for Toyota is the reason you're seeing some Toyota results. Perhaps a more narrow search using less terms may help?
From the FixYa FAQs:
Search - Type your product name or keyword phrase into the search box on the Homepage. You'll be taken to a search results page listing all of the products that match your search criteria, with the ability to narrow down your results by product category. If there is only one match for your search criteria, you will be taken directly to that matching product's page.
SOURCE: In Fixya , There huge products and also Questions
Hi wkojiro, welcome to FixYa. Questions on FixYa are usually categorized under the specific model of product that they are about. However, should that product not be on our site, the asker can make it "generic" for the category. When an Expert responds to that generic question, he can add a specific model categorization (if the asker overlooked it and it's actually on the site). If you have any other questions, you can always email Fixya Support Team at: [email protected] or use our contact page: http://www.fixya.com/contact
SOURCE: I emailed a question and
Hello,
There does not seem to be any other question for this account. You would have to re-post the initial question and once someone has answered the question you will receive a notification via email from FixYa.
You can also go to http://www.fixya.com/MyActivity.aspx once logged in to see all activity including answers to any questions if any.
Best Regards,
Ben
SOURCE: i cant remember the answer to my security question
Hi,
Thanks for using Fixya.
Sorry to inform you but there are only two ways by which you can get into your account. Either enter the answer of security question or alternate email id. If you don't remember either of the one then you can not log into your account. You will have to create another account.
Good luck and have a nice day

You don't have to pay for using the website... the operators of the website simply offer an "instant" solution at your option (it's how they make money). If you just leave your question posted, someone like me (who does not work for the website) may later answer it for free :) (Some of us geek types actually have fun answering people's questions!) I'm not personally familiar with the dishwasher you have, otherwise I'd answer the question myself... but be patient and one of the other users may come up with your solution :)

Can you click on the user name?
Try it. It's possible your screen is differnt than mine since I answer questions. Sorry for long first answer, but the fixya site has gone through many evolutions. They are moving into video answers now. Keep in mind that all content you post belongs to fixya into perpetuity, so if you make a video answer and post it on fixya, it belongs to them directly. If you post link to your utube video, the video still belongs to you. There are folks who make money answering questions I suppose. A large group of fellas quit about a year ago because the number of questions available for them to answer had evidently been directed to other 'people' or directed to previous answers... possibly to avoid the cost of paying somebody to answer the question, when fixya already owned the answer.
You mean like members of the G.O.T.? Naa, we're still around. I use the same user name as I always have for 3 years now. I don't believe our screens differ, Gene. Click on my user name. You can do this when the problem is categorized form, (i.e., Computers - Desktop, Computers - Laptop ) When the problem goes to an individual problem you clicked on, then you cannot click on the user name, and be taken to their account. Nope Gene, I think Bob Computer, Mike258, Gort, Ed, Bill, and others are still around, from time to time. Different user names, perhaps ;) ex-Expert Moderator joecoolvette
