I have a ducted reverse cycle carrier air condition model S16 HP\CHB-05, i have a blanc LCD screen on the programmable thermostat, , I went through the trouble shooting and was not able to get 24 VAC berween R and C on the terminal connections of the thermostat. i was trying to look for a fuse in the unit installed in the roof or the outside unit but was unable to find a fuse. can some one help??
If you don t have 24 v between r and c on the tstat it could be a burnt fuse on the board in the air handler or a burnt transformer , also in the air handler , 90% of the times the fuse , if is one , or the transformer burnt beacause outside unit contactor is shorted out , replace it before replace fuse or transformer .
If the air handler has a computer board inside , the fuse s on the board , if there s not board , transformer s burnt
Like have a clogged drain and the float switch is tripped. Check the drain line near the indoor unit for a piece with two wires. Remove switch and check for water or look in emergency pan under unit for water. DO NOT LEAVE SWITCH OUT, must vacuum clog free or blow out with compressed air.

SOURCE: install programmable Carrier thermostat
you'll be needing an assistance from an A/C technician, If this a progammable you want, some configuration need to be done and a technician can only do that.
You can search the web for a local carrier dealer nearest to you

i have tried to change the relay in the outside unit but it did not fix the problem. is there a fuse some where for the 24 VAC. any advise from the experts??
Yes there is likely a blade style, similar to a car, in the indoor unit. Follow your red wire off the secondary side of the transformer all the way to the red that goes to the tstat. Check drain first!!
