Cannot see anything out of main telescope

My son got the Astrolon 525 power telescope with Barlow lenses for Christmas. It was easy to put together but we cannot see anything out of the main telescope. We are able to view the moon through the Finderscope but cannot see it through the main telescope. Have put in a Barlow lense, different eye pieces, moved the focus knob, but we do not see the moon through the main telescope. Please help. Thanks

Do NOT use the barlow lens-- put the lowest magnification eyepiece into the scope-- practice focusing on the moon -- turn the focus knob slowly in and out until you get a sharp image.

Telescopes only show an area of sky about 1 degree wide or LESS--- this is about the size of the TIP of your finger held at arms length................ your scope is best used at low magnification.

The lowest magnification eyepiece is the one with the LARGEST number written on it.

I cant see anything from my telescope

In the DAY TIME? Take the scope out in the day time, put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the focuser-- DO NOT use the 2x barlow. Practice focusing on a distant object by turning the focus know right and or left until you get a sharp image.

TAKE the lens cap off-- of course.

Need to know how to put together the astrolon telescope 525 power

There are 3 types of telescopes --- see this web site:

http://texasastro.org/telescope.php

and two types of mounts--

Altitude- Azimuth and Equatorial
http://texasastro.org/mounts.php

You must be more specific as to the type and the mount.

We have a refractor AZ2 holder (the only name we have.) No manual, several lenes, but how to put them together??? The lenses are SR4mm, H12.5mm, 1.5X erecting eyepiece & 3X Barlow Lens. Hope you can...

The 3 x barlow will be useless for this small telescope.

Put the 1.5 x erecting PRISM into the telescope and then put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the erecting prism. This is your lowest magnification.

Take the scope outside during the daytime and practice focusing on a distant object. Turn the focuser knobs slowly until the object comes into sharp focus.

525 telescope but no instructions

No one will have a manual for this telescope, However here is a picture:
http://www.amazon.com/Elenco-Astrolon-525x-Refractor-Telescope/dp/B0019MYVMQ

This is a very simple refractor on an alt az mount. Sure wish you had NOT bought this "department store" telescope. It will be shaky and has a very small aperture. Read my TIPS on my profile page to find out how to improve a department store telescope.

I have a galaxsee 525x - was given to me a few days ago. It has been used and came with no instruction manual. I have out it together but I cant see anything with it. I can when I dont put the lense in but...

First you have what we call a department store telescope. It is 60mm, not much bigger than a pair of 10x50mm binoculars. Do NOT use the 2xbarlow if you have one, Put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the telescope and go outside during the day time and practice focusing on a distant object.

You probably will not find a manual-- however Meade telescopes maintains a web site for their scopes. Look under REFRACTOR on this page for one similar to your telescope. They all work the same way:
http://www.meade.com/manuals/index.html

Then read my TIPS on my profile page.

I have an Astrolon Telescope +8, 288 power and I can not see anything through it, please help me, I just have in the case a very limited manual to put it together

Put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the telescope. DO NOT USE the 2x barlow if you have one.

Practice focusing on a distant object during the day time.

What lens do i insert into scope to view the moon

The moon is big so use the 25mm. The Barlow will have a multiplication marking on it 2x 3x etc. A 2x Barlow lens will effectively double the power of the eyepiece you are using. Do not use the erecting eyepiece for anything other than land viewing. Erecting eyepieces generally reduce the amount of light reaching your eye and thus reduce brightness of the faint objects in the sky.
So basically just place the 25 mm lens in the focuser and point the scope at the moon and you will be amazed at what you can see and how bright it is.
