During slow spin it makes an intermittent scraping noise. The noise gets constant and loud on high spin. It drains fine. When I spin the tub by hand in both directions I hear something loose possibly floating around under the tub. I imagine a penny or something underneath the metal tub. Does anyone know how to check this?

Most noises
from a washing machine occur during the spin cycle. If you hear loud
thumping during the spin, the load of clothes may have become
unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the clothes, then re-start
it. Repeat these steps if necessary.

Unless your front loader is set firmly on concrete
and leveled to perfection, the force of a heavy wash load spinning in
excess of 1000rpm will create a bit of vibration and noise.A firm footing is your best defense against to much movement.
Also due to the earlier movements during the spin cycle, the
shocks that are used to dampen the spin cycle might have been broken or
damaged.
If the problem persists inspite of proper levelling, please do check for the shocks or might have them replaced them for good.

The bearings have collapesd due to the seal going faulty. If bearings can be accessed to from the outside, it is possible you could do the repair. If big bearing and seal is accessed from the inside, suggest tech. do it as it gets dirty and a lot more complex.
