Open two copies of My Computer, one pointing to the flash drive and the other to your PC's hard drive (C:\.<folder of choice>). Then drag and drop the files you want to copy to your PC from the flash drive.
The FORMAT process is trying to write data to the card, but that writing is NOT successful,
i.e., the memory on the card is damaged/defective, and so it "fails".
Responsibly recycle the card, and purchase a replacement memory-card.
You need a USB to Flash card adapter, you push the little card into the slot, and if it is a mini card, it has to go into another card "Carrier" that plugs into another adapter, that then plugs into the PC, either through the USB adapter or a slot in PC, anyway, when you insert it, automatically, a driver will be installed, it is "Built into" Windows, now after it has done so. you can simply use it as a "Drive", meaning you can Copy, Cut, Paste.
Does the PC recognize the adapter when you place onto the USB port? If not, try another USB port. It should atleast say it has detected hardware, see if it's finding and installing the drivers correctly.
If it's not the adapter, could you reformat the microsd card? Perhaps, it is corrupted? Is this SDHC or SD (what capacity). Older Blackberries do not support SDHC (I believe this is 4gb or above), perhaps this has something to do with it.
ceejay_thomas, Does your PC have a SD slot for the transflash adapter? If not you'll still need a SD to USB adapter to plug the SD into. If you have a Sony it may not be an SD slot it may be a Memory Stick or Memory StickPro which is not the same. randy320sgi
This adapter will be usuall USB . Kindly verify you have the right adapter for memory. Else you will be having housing for the MICRO SD. AFTER THAT YOU MAY USE IT ON USB CARD READER
If it is a MicroSD, it should be fine. With the phone off and open so you can see the keypad, on the right-hand side of the keypad, you should see s rectangular cover that says 'Transflash'. Open the cover and insert the MicroSD card with the gold contacts facing up (toward the keypad). The slot is spring loaded, so push the card in until you hear a soft click. Then close the cover and turn on your phone. That should be it. Removal is the opposite. Just gently push in on the card to release it and it will slide out under the spring pressure. The phone won't really acknowledge that the card is present but you can see how much room is available under Tools-System-Manage Memory.
