SOURCE: CHAIN REPLACEMENT

I think I can help. Place one end of the chain over the rear gear (doesn't matter which one, the biggest) and adjust the lever or twist ring on the handlebar so the derailleur lines up in a straight line with it. Pull the chain from the rear sprocket down and over the pivot wheel and back over the bottom wheel so it looks just like this S and the end comes forward. Join the chain links. Place the chain over a couple front teeth and turn the pedal carefully until the chain seats on the front sprocket.

SOURCE: I am looking for a manual for a mongoose tech 4 mountain bike

The brakes should have a label on them so you can find their website. Most of the good manufacturers have directions on their sites for adjusting their products. The bike I looked at had V brakes. http://www.sheldonbrown.com/canti-direct.html is the site to look at. Great pictures and good explanations.

How to adjust brakes on the mongoose mode 100

Two places for adjustment. First is at the end of the brake lever. This is the minor adjustment. The second is the major adjustment, its located at the brake. For this one, you'll need some tools. The cable need to be loosened, then with a pliers the slack in the cable is removed and the bolt is retightened. You may want to take it to a bike shop for this repair.

I need to know what kind of crankshaft does a mongoose men's melee have?

Ya mean BOTTOM BRACKET? Probably something at the low end of Shimano. They don't publish the minutae for their department store bikes.

You could ask Mongoose directly or take it your Local Bike Shop and have them determine the answer (which is recommended in Mongoose's manual if you want service on a 3-piece crankset anyway).

My first bike ever, how to adjust the saddle of mongoose pro zero-g, this one i got seem like the saddle pipe is almost touch the rear shock.

Mongoose has a manual...

Get on the web and start researching anything you wonder about.

"how to adjust bicycle seat" for example.

If your seatpost is so low it touches the other parts of the bike maybe it's too low or your bike is too big for you. You're not supposed to be able to touch the ground with your feet while seated.

A reputable Bicycle Shop would have fit the bike to you before you took it home.

Seek out local bike shops and clubs if you think you'll get serious about riding. Many members readily adopt novices for mentoring.

When I shift it's not smooth but the chain seems to jump all over , same thing happens when I put extra pressure on pedals

If it used to work and the cables are new then the cabels streached as normal you need derailer adjustments. If you have had it a while, and recently fell then you bent your derailer hanger take it to a bike shop to be straitened by a pro.. If it is a new bike and never worked at all then you need some derailer adjustments. You can adjust your derailer your self IF you know what you are doing. Otherwise go to a bike shop and have them do it. .

Hello my name is Wayne and I have received a mongoose d series mountain bike that needs some repairs, but I am interested in fixing it up. is there a manual that explains the different parts, and sizes...

There is probably not a single thing on that bike that is specific to Mongoose. In other words, every adjustment and component on it is in accordance with the third-party manufacturer's specs.

Find one of their generic manuals here...
