Why won't Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator for Windows 98 recognize my logitech joystick?

I have the original MS Combat Flight Simulator that was written for Win 98 SE. I recently purchased a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro USB joystick. The game will not turn flight control surfaces (ailerons, rudder, and elevator over to the joystick. The program installs properly and the graphics are correct. I can fly with the keyboard, but the controls are not as responsive as they should be, etc. Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit is my OS. I have the latest driver/profiler for my joystick. Windows recognizes the joystick properly. In calibration mode everything works just as it should. There is a disconnect between the game and the OS and the game. What gives? Any ideas? My computer is a basic Dell Inspiron 570 running a 3 GHz AMD Athlon II dual-core processor. I have 4 GB memory on board. My graphics memory is set in BIOS for 512 MB.

Click on the joystick and then click on the properties tab
check and adjust compatibility
tick the box and move down the list to win 7 and click that ---apply and ok
it sound slike a compatibility fault or a missing driver for the joystick

SOURCE: installed joystick extreme 3d pro wiil not work

Sometimes on those games, if you used a mouse originally, they do not auto-detect that ur using a joystick now - go into the options tell the game ur using a joystick and also there you may be able to set custom control features (what button does what).
Please let us know how it went.

SOURCE: Attack 3 joystick won't work

Hi Jnmjohnson555,

As joystick is a device for interaction with your computer in a specific manner like gaming , this device will be reflected in the human interface section.

However as far as the problem that you have decribed is concerned, I would recommend you to first remove any drivers or softwares that you have installed for this device , and then restart your computer.

Once you restart make sure that you plugin the device or connect the device and your computer will detect it , i.e. it will detect that the device has been connected, but will try to search for drivers.

Now when you find this option , you have to download the driver from the below link :-

http://driverscollection.com/?file_cid=39076550964a71ad1552f680cc6

Copy and paste the above link in your browser and it will go to the download page , there you have to enter a code that will help you download this file.

Once downloaded , you have to install it and then restart your computer, you will find that the device manager reflected this device properly and it works properly too.

Hope that helps...:)

MCFS Joystick Problem

Make sure, that your Joystick is compatible with the version you are having problems with. If not, make sure that it's enabled in the configuration of MCFS. If none of those work, you will most likely have to purchase a more compatible Joystick.

Joystick does not work properly with Coombat

My understanding is that Combat Flight Sim 3 doesn't like to play with anybody...been that way since they released the game....Microsoft doesn't seem to care too much about it either, I have not seen a decent patch released....but what I would do if I were you is check around the CFS3 forums and FlightSim.com and see if they have released any patches that you may not have. Remember when you apply a patch to start the game, shut it back down before installing another patch. Do this with all patches you download and install.

When I bank right or left with joystick the screen Freezes

To check the joystick isn't the problem, go into control panel game controls, then check that the joystick appears and you can move the cross-hair around on screen, most modern joysticks are
auto-calibrating, but you could try running the calibration.

To check the game isn't a problem, unplug the joystick, then use the arrow keys to fly the plane, if it doesn't crash when you bank then it isn't the game.

I assume the game is Combat Flight Simulator 3, as very old games that were written for Windows 95,98,ME series often won't run on Windows NT,2000,XP,Vista as they are completely different versions of Windows. If this is actually Flight Simulator 3, you may need to consider buying a later version of Flight Simulator (FSX is the latest version, but may not run on your laptop).

Other things to try are updating the graphics card driver.

Norton shouldn't need deactivating, although it could cause problems if you're playing online.

Also remember that laptop graphics cards are never as powerful as desktop graphics, and games very rarely specifically support laptop graphics.

Hope this helps.

Combat flight simulator wont recognize my sidewinder precision 2 joystick on vista but it did on xp?

I am farmiliar with most flight simulators and know that you have to go to settings on the main menu the controls and select joystick, enable joystick and/or calibrate joystick. If this doesn't wok then in gameplay push "alt" on your keyboard if the task bar for flight simulator isn't at the top. Once or if it is allready there select settings and then enable joystick. If this doesn't work then call or contact or google microsoft flight simulator.
