Can not connect to the internet through router if i hook up the internet straight to computer it works but when i try through the router the computer has no internet connection but it picks up the router

Some cable modems look for the MAC address of the computer until reset. You can either enter the MAC address from the PC into the MAC spoofing setting on the router OR disconnect and unplug the cable modem for 24 hours and start over. First, plug in the cable modem and connect the cable. 2nd, plug the router cable into the modem and router and plug in the router's power supply. Then connect the computer and it should work fine.

Can't find the instructions to hook up second computer, we have two computers and the reason for the dx was to hook both of them up now I find I have no instructions, pls help!

Assuming that the router has one 'WAN' (or 'Internet') port, and more than one 'LAN' (or 'Network') port, just connect an Ethernet cable from the 2nd LAN port to the network-port on the second computer.

Both the router and the second computer should auto-configure themselves, giving you an Internet connection, without any fuss.

How to hook wired router to cable box. What is WAN outlet

all of your computers should get hooked up in ports 1-4 and the WAN port should be hooked up to your broad band router from your internet service provider. so if your first computer is hooked up to port 1 just plug your second into port 2 and every thing will work fine.

I hope this helped.

Thank you,

2nd Computer in basement cannot access Internet

if your signal is low in there the best work around would be to lay a cat-5 cable up to the router, the wired connection would be faster and more reliable then a wireless, or buy another wireless router and put it closer to the basement than the first and wire the 2 routers togher with cat5 using the second router as a fancy switch.

Trouble with paradyne or linksys

Just saw your post, so please accept my apologies for being almost a month late in responding, as I only joined this service on March 26th.

1. When a modem has both usb and ethernet, only ONE of the two should be used as most isp modems will allow one or the other.

2. Your Vonage should be discreet and not intermingled with the rest of your system. It would be better to connect the Vonage to a router, and not the router to the Vonage. iow, do not connect the Vonage modem between the isp's modem and your router.

3. denigration of service or slowdown is typical with VOIP if more than 2 systems whether telephone or other systems are connected, due to the ringer voltage splitting that occurs when you put more units on the Vonage, or any other Voip modem. One ISP solves this by providing separate outputs for Voip and Ethernet.

Observation of these rules should speed up your system.

I'm having problems getting my 2nd computer hooked up on my wrt54g router. please help

Try it wired first, if doesn't work its your basic configuration if it does try removing WEP and running unsecured. If you can connect focus on your WEP settings, if you can't connect focus on the antennae, hardware, and radio settings. If you connect without WEP and can't connect with, use the 64bit hex key it generates instead of your pass phrase. Many wireless cards have trouble using the passphrase.

G router wont work through vista or satellite dish

hello!

-- who is your internet service provider
-- what is the operating system of your computer?
-- is this working fine before or is this a brand new router

you may try this and see if this help solve your problem. make sure your computer is directly connected to the router

Step 1: Shutdown the computer.
Step 2: reset the router while power on then Unplug the router’s power cable.
Step 3: Unplug the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for 30 seconds.
Step 4: Plug in the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for its lights to appear stable.
Step 5: Plug in the router's power cable once the modem’s lights appear stable.
Step 6: Power on the computer on and configure the router settings
Step 7: test the Internet connection.

if this still didnot work, upgrade the firmware of your router

note:

configuring the router settings will depends who is your provider. if your isp is dsl you need to configure your ISP username and password on the router. if your router is a cable no need to change any settings on the router. it should automatically work

if you are still having trouble configuring your device, try to call supportrix and use supportcall as your promo code for 1 free technical support.

Wired network connection problem

Thank you for the clarification. I believe that 50 feet long is prone to interference that is why your computer freezes. You can try using a shorter cable to and check if the same problem occurs. This could be a problem with interference or a problem with the second computer. By trying a shorter cable, you would be able to define which is the problem.

Router

hi, is your second pc wired using the ethernet cable or wireless?its better if you use an ethernet cable to your 2nd pc. you said that its not pulling the 192.168.1.1, you have to check the ip address on the pc first because if your pc wont show it then it means that its not detecting your router.

ex: for win xp/vista

start-->run-->type cmd press enter-->you'll see a black screen, type all lower case ipconfig then enter. you should see there default gateway either for lan or wireless that matched the 192.168.1.1. if it does, try going to safemode by restarting pc while tapping f8,choose safemode with networking n try launching it there in your ie, if you dont see the num then troubleshooting needs to be done for you to get the correct nums..its best also if you contact your isp..i hope this helps.
