I already replaced the lamp 2 weeks ago as the TV was going off and on over and over again with audio remaining. the lamp lite never flashed red 2 weeks ago when i decided to change. after changing.....the tv worked great till today. now when powering on..... the power lite is RED and the lamp lite is flahing RED. There is also this strange sound coming from the TV when attempting to power on. WHAT should I do???????HELPHELP HELP
That is definitely the Light Engine (also referred to as an optical block) Very expensive.
Well, I could guess it will be in the thousands to have a repair tech install a new one. But it all depends on the base price of the L/e for your model. Your best bet, would call a repair co, tell them you need the L/E, give them the model an serial and ask for a price to install it. You tell them your lamp light is on, you have no pix and the L/E is making noise. They shouldn't even need to check it out first. This repair is a little time consuming, but can be done right in your home. If you are really handy, you may be able to get one from ebay or somewhere and replace it yourself, but unless you've done stuff like this before, I wouldn't try it.

I have the same problem and originally thought it was the lamp, but do not want to pay for a new lamp if that is not the problem. I do not have audio when my screen turns black so that is why I do not to pay for a new bulb yet.
I too have the problem with the screen going black and also not having sound. It just started today and it recycles every 30 seconds or so.
Could you define "very expensive"? I am just trying to figure out if I should just get a new tv or pay to get this one fixed. Thank you!
