FLASHES C:13:01 When I turned the camera on, I looked at monitor to take picture and was flashing C:13:01-wouldn't take a picture. Shut camera off, turned on and got two pictures off. That was it. By shutting camera off and on was able to get to the review setting and viewed the 80 pics. stored; that was yesterday. Today I get the c:13:01 code on each camera mode and review setting only shows the 2 pics from yesterday, then blue screen, though as I push the review button the on screen picture number changes normally. Had camera 4 years- never any problems. Pulled battery\memory stick and re-inserted: no change.

OMG!!! If you still have the camera, try this. I read in one of these forums to spray a burst of brake cleaner in there and blow dry for a few seconds and believe it or not, it worked! That's after me taking it apart to make sure the connectors weren't loose, using the pencil eraser and banging it. I am not making this up. It was my last resort and it worked. Good luck!

Flash doesn't work

Check first to see if your flash is shut off. If it is turned on and you still get no flash then you need a new flash pcb. You are probably looking at around $125 to have a camera repair shop do this.
Hope this helps.

Dark monitor

Since the D40X is an SLR, (single lens reflex), it is not possible to use the LCD monitor to frame your pictures before they are taken.

To view what your images look like after you have taken them, you need to use the 'monitor/play' button marked with a rectangular box
