My camera was fine. The next time I took it out of the case, the screen was black, both through the view finder and the screen. There appears to be a flash of light that rolls down the screen. When I take a picture and I go to "review" it shows lines of colors. I can review all my previously taken pictures. I have taken out the battery, blown on it and put it back in.
I have fixed several Kodak models including this one with exactly the same problem. Sometimes tapping on the side will fix it temporally. The fix is to open the back of the camera and snap the connector from the lens. If the camer is dropped the connector can come unsnapped. You should only attempt this if you have had some experence working on electronics. Be careful inside the camera especially in the upper right corner which is where the high voltage is for the flash. You can get a large shock from this camera if your not careful.

You mentioned you have fixed this type of camera before, could you point me to a site or spell out how to remove the back cover? I dropped mine and it won't turn on. I am somewhat handy and don't plan on spending $200 or so to get it fixed by Kodak.

Here is the link to the Kodak support page for your camera; http://www.kodak.com/global/en/service/products/ekn030485.jhtml?pq-path=7546 It has user manuals, FAQs, troubleshooting etc if you select "view in browser" under manuals (the download seems to have a problem) then select "camera problems" under "troubleshooting" First see if anything there helps out (especially check the "EVF/LCD toggle button"). Next thing to try is removing any memory card if you have one inserted and see if this helps. If so then try reformatting the memory card. replace it if this doesn't help - try and borrow a card from someone to check that this makes a difference. Next try resetting the camera to all default values - this is easiest to find by looking under "reset" in the index of the manual - there is a setting in the setup menu of the camera that allows you to select this option. If that doesn't help then i would recommend contacting kodak (all details are on the link page) - they may have a solution for this problem that has not yet been added to the website Hope this helps - please ask for more info if not :)
This fix should only be done by a professional or one who is familiar with repairing electronic devices. I have fixed many Kodak camera's with exactly the same problem.
Inside the camera the lens is attached to the circuit board with a ribbon cable and it inserts into a connector that it's latch can pop open if the camera is dropped or Jared. The way to fix it is to remove the back and re snap the connector. I have fixed many this way. There are two hidden screws behind the eye piece. Press down on the eye piece after removing the screws on the bottom. Be very careful where you touch on the circuit board. In the upper right corner is where the high voltage is for the flash. That can cause a nasty shock if you touch it. Even if the battery is removed it holds a charge.

I am also having the same problem, and i am out of the Manufacturer warranty. Missed by few months. Contacted Kodak and they told me it could cost me $150 to fix this.
I am looking for some local repair shops or someone who can fix this.

After the picture is taken with this camera and the review time expires, the screen goes to horizontal lines and stops functioning.
