SOURCE: I have a Emachines T5026. It has 2 256mb memory

Did you buy DDR PC 2700 ram modules?
Are you sure you've fully seated them in the slots, and clipped them in? See here for compatible memory options for your system.
See instructions to add ram on page 50 of your manual here. or here.
eMachine support doesn't offer any bios updates, so I'd let it go for now...just make sure you have updated hardware drivers...

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

SOURCE: emachine t3604, computer shut down. then restarted

Hello,
I'm sorry to say this but your hard drive may be faulty and need a replacement. Your files might still be retrievable but you will need to take it to a repair center to get it retrieved or plug it as an external hard drive and try to retrieve data yourself. But nevertheless, it seems like your hard drive gave in and will need to be replaced with a new one..

Thanks,
Lolita

SOURCE: Unmountable boot volume

Hopefully you have a windows installation cd or a recovery cd. If you do then you need to install it into your cd rom drive. Reboot the computer and you will see a message that says to press any key to boot from CD. If you do not get this message and it goes straight to your boot screen then you should re-enter your BIOS and change the boot order so that the computer will boot from the CD first. Then reboot (if this was the case). When you enter the windows set up you will want to press R to start the recovery console. Select your windows OS by pressing the number corresponding with the listing for windows (most likely "1"). Then you will want to enter your administrative password. If you don't have one, just press enter. This should bring you to a command prompt. Once at the command prompt type CHKDSK. This will perform a scan of your hardrive and fix any errors. Upon restart, your computer should boot into windows. If not, then repeat this process, but instead of CHKDSK, type in fixmbr. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: is it possible to replace sound card on emachines T3604

You you could replace it... np...

But it could be just a Driver or Software issue. I would update the Audio Driver... go to: http://www.emachines.com/support/drivers.html and locate your PC Model the Download the Audio Driver. It shows 2... use the first one. If that fails try the second one... the second one will write over the first...

If both fail... then if you want to do it youself... head to a PC store. If you are mechanically inclined and can read directions... I would try it youself.
You will need a PCI Audio Card... Install it at the very bottom or last Slot in the System. Of course Power unplugged and again follow the instructions.

I recently purchased Two PNY 1Gb ram to upgrade from original 512mb. When I put both 1Gb ram in the slots, the computer will not boot up. When I take one out and put the original 512 back in with the other...

I don't know your specific model, but some of the Emachines had some memory directly on the motherboard. With the 1Gb and 512Mb sticks installed, boot the machine and report how much memory the system sees. Perhaps the onboard memory is causing you to exceed the 2Gb limit.

Please post the memory size you get here with the above sticks.

Thanks,
Dan

BIOS will not expand to 2GB RAM

try each ram one by one. if there is prob in ram it will show only 512 instead of 1 GB.. Second check for memory shared in bios

I have problem about ram

If the manual says this motherboard support up to 1 GB RAM, you cannot put 2 GB. You can put 2x 512 GB RAM or 1GB RAM
Also try to upgrade your bios, maybe a better bios version supports more than 1 GB RAM.

New ram memory on dell dimension celeron trying to

You should check with the folks at Dell since whoever wrote their technical manuals for this machine can't do basic math. There are 2 memory slots and each can handle a maximum capacity of 512MB, yet they claim the maximum capacity for the machine is 2GB instead of 1GB. Using 512MB modules would probably work.

Emachine T5212 Ram Issue

Check the e-machine website for its frequently asked questions and troubleshooting sections on you make and model of computer. Someone may have had the same problem and had a answer posted. Also check for the types of memory recommended for use in you model, check this list out with the type you are using. IF all that fails purchase a recommended memory pair and see if they work. If not you may indeed have some problem with the memory slots. Try cleaning the slots with spray on instant dry contact cleaner and a small brush like a toothbrush or horse hair brush. See if this improves the connections enough to let the unit use both memory sticks.Hope this helps you with your problem.

How do I tell me emachine T5212 to recognize newly installed ram?

The Ram specifications for your model are:
1024MB DDR2 (2 × 512MB), 533MHz (PC4200)
Expandable to 2GB

If you are using Microsoft Windows, the operating system will recognize the memory by itself, there is nothing you have to do. Go to your start menu, right-click on "My Computer" and choose "Properties". In the lower right corner of the "General" tab, you can read the amount of memory available to you.

If you want to know how to put RAM into your computer, have a look at this web page - it's a good video instruction. Make sure not to touch any of the electronic parts on the stick itself - try to hold it on the side.

If your computer does not recognize the newly installed RAM it can have different reasons:
  1. The RAM is bad. Nothing you can do but send it back and get it replaced.
  2. You got the wrong RAM. Look at Crucial's webpage (link) and compare the specs with what you've got. They are very reliable and the memory I bought from them always worked.
  3. It is possible that you have to install the RAM in pairs. (eMachine's web page (link) has no download for a manual and does not cover this topic.) It means, that either both memory slots have to be populated or even populated with the same kind of sticks (2 x 512MB, 2 x 1GB).
Solution: try to replace one of your old sticks with the new 1GB stick and see if that increases your memory. If that doesn't work, take both of the old sticks out and put the new 1GB stick in the slot closest to the CPU (look at the video: it's that unit with the fan on top). If that doesn't work either, try the other slot.
Last resort would be to contact eMachine. You can either use LiveChat or call them. The contact info is on their web page.

If all fails, come back here and leave a comment including what you did. I will check back and then we go from there.

Good luck!

Upgrade from 512MB to 1GB

The specs on the memory are correct, so you purchased the correct type of memory for this motherboard. If your getting no video when you power on with the 1gb stick, I would be willing to bet the 1gb stick is bad. Can you return it and try another stick?
