Simon xt key fob

Can you program the simon xt to arm both doors and windows with one push of the key fob lock button? Right now I have to push the lock TWICE in order to arm the perimeter and the second time to arm the motions. Can they be armed both with just one push of the button? Is there a way to program this?

Doors and windows are armed with the single press. All devices programmed as "perimeter" will arm. "interior" devices still need a second press of the lock button

SOURCE: problem arming all sensors on ge simon security

I have yet to test it but I think I've figured it out... I spoke to the place I bought the alarm from and he stated that for both the door/windows & motion to arm, you have to leave the house (or activate an exit door) or the alarm thinks you are still in the house. Since the motion is instant on, this prevents you from accidentally setting off the alarm if you armed it and never left.

So what if you want to arm both and stay inside? There is an option called Unvacted premises (in the Timers menu). It's on by default and makes the alarm behave as described above. Set this option to off and you should be able to set both and not leave the house.

SOURCE: GE Simon XT panel lights window, door and motion indicators

The system is working as designed. If you arm both doors/windows and motions, but you DON'T exit the premises during the exit delay, the system will "downgrade" its arming to doors/windows only. The assumption is that you haven't actually left the premises and are at risk of creating fale alarms. This behavior can be disabled in System Configuration (though it may require the dealer access code to do it).

Try opening and closing a sensored external door (even if you don't go outside) during the delay after arming doors+motion and see if the motions don't stay active.

Can the Simon xt be programed so that when you enter the stay mode there is not exit delay beeps?

There is always the exit delay, however, you can arm it silently and with no entry delay. To arm silently, press Door and windows, press silent.
To arm without entry delay, press doors and windows twice. Press silent if also wanting no beeps.

Reprogram key fob

Here is a quick HowTo on programming your own keyless entry:

1) Turn ignition to OFF.
2) Locate the Data Link Connector, its a black 16 pin connecter that is under the driver's side dash, right where your right knee would be. You have to look up into the dash from below to see it.
3) Ground pin 1 of the Data Link Connector by taking a wire or paper clip and running it from pin 1 to pin 4. Pin 4 is ground so you can just short pin 1 to 4 and it will be grounded. Grounding pin 1 tells the system you are ready to reprogram it.
4) Close all of your doors.
5) Turn the key to ACC then back off. The power door locks will lock/unlock. This is the signal that the system is ready for reprogramming.
6) Push a button on your key fob, doesn't matter which button.
7) If you have 2 key fobs, then press a button on the 2nd fob within 1 minute of pressing a button on the 1st fob. Both must be programmed at the same time. If you only have 1 fob then press a button 2 more times to signal that you only have one.
8) The doors will lock/unlock to signal the codes were received.
9) Remove the jumper wire from the data connector.
10) your done

Car will not unlock.

To get inside the car .... Use the key in the lock cylinder, unlock the drivers door to get inside. You shouldn't have to reprogram the fob unless it or the keyless module was changed. There may be a blown fuse that supplies the keyless control module (check the owners manual for location). or wires that lead into the Drivers door may be damaged ... The keyless module is located inside the drivers door at the bottom behind the door panel ... do the unlock/lock and trunk release switches on the inside of the drivers door operate the locks and or trunk release? If so it is not the fuse ... and not the wires to it ... And it could be your BCM body control module, located in the dash board to right of your gas petal. Because the number entry keypad (code for that is on the inside of the right passenger trunk bracket arm) also doesn't work I assume it's not the key fobs themselves. Your 98 manual is correct for your car.

It sounds like the auto-stay arming function. Try arming it and opening and closing the door.

Program a remote key for 03 A6

I have an A4 and did this to re-program my key:

1. used the key to start the car...then turned it off
2. put the key in the driver door (door closed)
3. pressed the lock button on the key fob once
4. turned the key to lock the door.

This is basically the steps in the owners manual, but the car must be started with the key first, and the key must be in the door lock before pressing the lock button.
