These cartridges don't have anything internally to check for new ink. They simply work on a basis of counting pages and page coverage to estimate ink levels. As such it is perfectly normal for your printer to warn of low ink once the cartridge has been refilled.

A low ink warning in itself should not stop your printer from printing though. If it does it is likely that the light is actually indicating a problem recognising the cartridge after refilling. I would recommend cleaning the copper contacts on the front of the cartridge and checking for any messages on the connected PC or laptop for more information.

SOURCE: orange cartridge keeps flashing after cartridge

Are you using a factory new HP ink cartridge?
If you are using a refilled or third party cartridge that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges.
They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead.
Also take a moment and make sure that all of the protective tape coverings have been removed from the cartridge.

Under the cartridge is a black like pump - on a new cartridge this is hard and rests firmly on an area inside your printer. As you print, the pump becomes softer - this is how the printer determines it is empty. Once refilled, the pump does not get back to the original state. Open the bottom of the cartridge and put a firm solid piece of folded paper in there - make sure it is steady and re-close cartridge. It will now read as full but may also show full - judge ink levels by the quality of print. Also make sure chip has not expired.

Red light flashing

Dear assistenc, In laser printer red light flashes for mainly two reason. 1. If there is no paper, 2. If there is no cartridge or the cartridge is empty or having problem. So check the paper and cartridge. Must probably, it is the cartridge. Change the Cartridge and it will solved. But remember, in samsung printer, cartridge refilling is successful. So if you can, refill the cartridge, it is less expensive. Thanks.

Lights on printer flashing -printer will not print

Flashing light signals you that your cartridge ink is empty. Sorry to know you're in trouble with your printer. Here are my suggestions: You have to buy a new genuine cartridge or you can refill ink. Be warned! Refilling ink or using a refilled ink cartridges will not work until the ink cartridge chip or ink monitor is disabled. For instructions on how to disable an ink cartridge chip, please visit [http://www.ehow.com/how_6201242_disable-ink-cartridge-chip.html] Now you can CURSE the manufacturer of your printer for making your life sucks by making it complicated the things that should be made SIMPLE and EASY. Printer or Cartridge, more or less, cost you the same. Don't you think the printer cartridges should be made simply refillable/usable unless they are broken, and we should be buying only the ink for the cartridges. It is SO ANNOYING, dude! Good luck.

Hi, Recently my printer cartidrge ink got empty and then I had refilled it,after installing I am getting orange light flashing 15 times and continously.Kindly advice me what's the prob,it was working fine...

Mostly cartridges have a sensor in it. Once cartridge gets empty, the sensor show error. Then even if you refill the cartridge the symptom remains there showing empty cartridge. Try using new cartridges, not refilled cartridges..

Just changed cartridges to refills and clour and black lights flashinghowever we can still print ok. Why are the lights flashing?

The lights are flashing because you are using refilled cartridges. The printer "sees" those cartridges as empty, since it can not know that someone has refilled them. When you put in new cartridges, the lights will stop flashing.
Just ignore the lights and print!

Hope that helps!

Hp black cartiedge is low on immediately

When you refill a cartridge, the printer will keep warning you that it is empty- a message pops out that says "low ink". That is because the printer sees the cartridge by it's serial number. The printer can't know that you have refilled the cartridge, so it keeps saying that it is empty. Once you put in a new cartridge, it will display the cartridge as full again.

I have a lexmark X3650 printer. I have refilled my black in cartridge. (Drilled the hole and refilled). The printer does not detect the refill and keeps telling me the cartridge is empty. Help please!!!

Unfortunately, the cartridge has an indicator that tells the printer what its status is. This doesn't get reset when you refill the cartridge. With some printers, you can use a few other new cartridges and then try the refilled one again. (These printers store the cartridges last used and status; but can't store a long list of "this cartridge was empty".)

I wish I could be of more help.

Hp f335 just refilled ink carts. Now i keep

Unfortunately there is no way to reset the electronics on this type of cartridge so your printer will always think they are empty. If the light flashes and you can still print, then just ignore the flashing. If your printer won't allow you to print, then the cartridge electronics must be bad. If the electronics are bad, there is nothing you can do to rescue the cartridge and you need to get a new one. I would return the cartridge to where you purchased it from and instead see if you have a Cartridge World store in your area. These stores would not sell you a refilled cartridge with bad electronics.

Trying to reload color cartridge.

Many brand name printer cartridges have a code that tells the printer they are a new cartridge. Once the cartridge is empty it will never again tell the printer that is it new.

You can refill the cartridge but it will continue to tell the printer that it is empty.

You say you "had my ... cartridges refilled today" so I suggest you go back to the folks who refilled them and ask them for suggestions.

Otherwise, purchase off-brand cartridges that won't tell the printer they're empty and keep refilling them as needed.

Another approach: purchase a new printer that won't give you this problem. I refill my Lexmark cartridges without any problems.

Check Printer Light Keeps Flashing on C3180 PhotoSmart

No, you do not need 3 cartridges or anything like that. Some cartridges have chips. Yours do not. If the light keeps blinking it means that one of the electrical contacts on the cartridge has blown and now the printer doesn't recognize it. Try printing something, you will get a message "problem with color cartridge" or "color cartridge missing". That means that the printer doesn't recognize it. I suggest you buy a new one. Or, if you have an old one, try putting it in and see if the light still blinks.
