I can't turn my Olympus camera MJU-700 on,it gives me an error message D: 5f08 5e02,but I can still view my pictures.

I can't turn my camera on,I press the power button,it gives me a whirling noise, the lenses come out(but not all the way),the picture on the screen is blurry, and I can't make a shot, and after2 seconds the lenses come back in by itself. Then it does it again, without me even pressing any button! But I can still view my pictures. But I can't download them on computer, because it still displays an error message D: 5fo8 5e02,and the lenses start moving again.I don't know how to fix it.Please help me.Because I took pictures just yesterday and then it stopped working...

I have the same issue and error message. However I was able to download the pictures. When your camera is off, put it on read before starting it. The lense does not open then and there is no error message. you can watch and download you picture just fine. Regarding the malfuntion, I have not find a solution yet. Shop takes me £40 for just checking it within 4 weeks. Hope it helps. Pierre

Exactly the same for me on a 2 year old camera. Have managed to download pictures. I wonder if it is a common fault on the newer verions i.e the MU1010.

Looks like a general malfunction Warranty replacement or purchase a new one - repair I would imagine is not an option.

SOURCE: I can't turn my camera

The camera may be faulty or it needs to be reset to the factory settings.
Try removing the battery leave it out for at least 1/2 hour, then replace the battery.
If it doesn't work then you need a new camera.

The camera is off but there is still a picture on the screen

"Off" might mean the lens has retreated, but that doesn't always stop the power as you can tell. Some Olympus cameras have a view mode (look for a button and icon near your view window). You may have accidentally bumped it. Push it again and the picture should turn off. You'll probably see more than one choice -- read the button labels to determine which is the right one.

How to activate panorama?

Panorama shooting lets you create a panoramic picture, using the OLYMPUS
Master software from the provided CD-ROM. An Olympus xD-Picture Card is required for Panorama shooting. If the card is a Fuji xD card then the panorama feature would be disabled to you.

Olympus mju 700 - error D: 5e02

Hello Jakub,
As you might already know that you are not the only one who is getting this error.. there are thousands of others with you .. If that makes you happy :D
This code is a troubleshooting service code for "malfunction of focus motor/sensor". It is a motor/sensor issue and is normally caused by sand or dirt in the lens cover mechanism. Try to turn on camera while holding it with the lens pointing up.
You might even try hitting the camera on your palm in that position (by hitting, i don't mean a real HIT .. be sure that you are gentle not to break the camera).
If that doesn't work then try this... when the lens is trying to come out and cannot come out completely then you can assist the lens by pulling it out manually (once again, understand that its a delicate camera and I don't want you to show how powerful you are by pulling it with all your mighty vigor.. be hard and gentle at the same time .. I hope you understand what i mean)

Please let me know if any of the above steps work for you and do rate the solution :)
All the best.

Regards,
Srinivas

Write Protect error and I think all my pics dissapeared!

If you are using an SD card, it could be possible that the Write Protect tab (the yellow tab on the top right) is in the 'lock' position. Slide it back and try again. If this does not work, make sure you are using the card and not the internal memory to store images.

Stylus 700 error D:5f08 5e02

The error message (D: 5f08 5e02) means that your lens is dying / dead. It just happened to mine (on the Mju 700, but it's the same thing) and I was told that it could be repaired, but it would cost as much as a new camera. I've only had mine 2 years and I've been really careful with it, so I'm a bit annoyed, but I have used it a lot!

Write protect message appears on screen

Sounds as if the memory card may be corrupted. In order to remove the write protect, make sure you have downloaded and saved all of the images from the memory card to your computer and then having the card in the camera you will need to run the format option and this will permanently remove the write protect as well as all of the images from the card.
The card should be able to be used again after the write protect is removed.

Diplay turning white on mju 700...

Hi

Sounds like your camera was dropped and the LCD was damaged. The white screen you see is typical for a defective LCD screen. The only way to repair the camera is to replace the bad part with a known good one.

One solution would be to buy a defective camera online that has a good LCD screen and swap them out.

Good luck from Darntoothysam com
