Battery doesn't hold charge for more than a week

Does the battery gradually lost its power, and do I have to buy a new battery. Otherwise the camera is working perfectly. Great camera for the price.

All batteries will eventually fail to hold a charge. The battery chemistry and how you charge it can change how long the battery will last. The DMC-FS4 has a Lithium-ion battery so it shouldn't have as much of the memory issue of older rechargeable batteries. (This is the "you routinely recharge the battery when it's at 50% then it always stops working at 50% charge" problem.)

How old is your battery? Eventually you will need a new battery but the time to replacement will depend on the number of recharge cycles. With a Li-ion battery, I'd expect several thousand recharges before failure. Temperature and usage will effect this. The battery does lose charge even when not used.

Be careful, some versions of the firmware look for Panasonic's specific batteries or a "that match the Panasonic rigorous specs".

I've seen a few devices where the charger failed before the battery. If a new battery doesn't seem to be charging, replace the charger. I hope this helps.

SOURCE: The camera doesn't turn on,

Hi,

I am sorry to hear regarding the trouble. As you have already used new batteries and eliminated battery as one of the causes, there are a couple of other reasons mentioned below :-

1. Battery connectors are at fault. Take a cleaning solution and cotton. Rub it against the battery connectors to remove any possible dust, dirt or rust.

2. This could be an issue with internal circuitry such as faulty PCB board located above the mainboard. In these situations, repair is the only resort.

Try to use a USB cable and connect it to PC. If that still does not work, i would advise you to send it to the seller or any of the distributors to get it replaced / repaired without any cost as it is new..

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Battery won't hold charge

It most likely needs a new battery, but you could try giving the battery a full charge first:

1. Power off the laptop and disconnect the power adapter.
2. Re-seat the battery (remove/reinsert)
3. Reconnect the power adapter and let it charge overnight. (6 hr+)
4. Disconnect the power adapter.
5. Power on the laptop (run under battery power only)

If it doesn't boot up and shuts down immediately, it's probably time to see about a replacement battery.

If the laptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced. Rechargeable batteries will fail if stored in a discharged state for long periods.
Laptop batteries vary from laptop to laptop. i suggest you Google the Internet for a battery for your model laptop.

My ccd-trv67 camcorder only comes on and works when i put it on charge otherwise it doesn't work how can i fix this?

Make sure that the battery is connected right and if it still has a problem try getting a new battery. After a while batteries stop holding their charge and need replacing. batteries can be found online or around 20$.

My toshiba satellite series a135-s4656 laptop stopped charging for over two weeks now. Though the adapter (power pack) is functional. Please what do i do (cos the system has been down since)?

How do you know the ac adapter is working? Just because the light on the ac adapter is on doesn't mean it's working. Does it work with the ac adapter plugged in? Just not charging the battery. If in the first case just buy a new ac adapter and see if it works, most are affordable some not so much. If the battery isn't charging then you will have to shop for a new battery. If both of those are good then you have either a bad ac plug on your laptop, or motherboard issues. Hope this helps, if you have more questions just reply and I will try to help.

Please could you offer me free solution to my problem? my lap top inspiron 1150 won't power on , the battery is not being charged and the power icon doesn't show up at the task bar.

Whenyou connect the power adapter into the laptop, does the power LED lightup? If not then - The battery adapter or the adapter's power lead or the laptop's powersocket could be faulty. Check power adapter's DCplug that connects into the laptop power socket with a multi-meter, the voltageshould be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on thebottom of the adapter. If the voltage is zero or way below the voltage that isprinted on the label then the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced. If the adapter is OK thenconnect it to the laptop and power it up, then look at the power/batterycharging LED light and wriggle the power plug in the laptop's powersocket. If the power/battery LED light flashes and in a certain position thisLED light stays firm, then the power socket is either faulty or it has a drysolder joint where it is connected to the motherboard. This can be repaired but itrequires the laptop to be completely dismantled to get at this power socket andrepair. If you cannot DIY then I suggest you get a quote first.
