The lid locked keeps blinking and I can not start a cycle.
LID LOCK FAULT
Fault is displayed if Lid Lock has not moved into locked position or motor cannot be powered.
Lid is not closed completely due to interference.
Check for lock interference with lock striker.
Wash media buildup (detergent, lint, etc.) is preventing the lock mechanism from sliding.
Main control detects open lid switch when attempting to lock.
Main control cannot determine if lid lock is in a locked state.
Perform the following checks if the washer does not lock (or unlock).
1. Perform the Lid Lock test under Manual Test Mode on page 9. The following steps assume that this step was unsuccessful.
2. Check lid lock mechanism for obstruction or binding. Repair as necessary.
I just had the same issue with my Whirlpool. The lid locked before vacation so I had to pry open the lid so my clothes wouldn't stay wet for a week. When I got back the "lid-lock" kept blinking red. We replaced the entire lid-lock mechanism ($56) and tried again with no progress. After discussions we thought to reset the master control because it still thinks the lid should be/is locked. In order to accomplish this we unplugged all connectors from the back panel (after unplugging from the wall) and plugged it back in. We had complete success and its running through its first cycle now. Cheers and good luck.

This sounds like the same issue as me, I have replaced the lid lock and tested it, but still have the same blinking red light and the only way to open the machine is if I unplug it from the wall. Did you unplug EVERYTHING from the control board? I'm really worried that I what needs replacing

For me it was the SOLENOID UNIT which I was able to reset myself doing the following.
I opened up the rear panel of our washer to access the control unit (after unplugging the machine ofcourse). I unplugged all the wiring harnesses from the control unit/brain. I then lifted the entire top/lid from the washer to access the locking solenoid. I unplugged the wiring harness from the solenoid and removed the solenoid with a screw driver carefully releasing the plastic tabs holding holding it into the housing and being careful to keep track of the slide behind it. On the solenoid, there is a black square that appears to be the mechanical locking switch. I depressed it with the screwdriver and it make a "click" as if resetting itself. I then reconnected all the wiring harnesses to the control unit but did NOT connect the solenoid. After everything was connected (except solenoid) I plugged in the washing machine. After 5 seconds I reconnected the wiring harness to the solenoid. It moved back and fourth a few times then the red "lock" light began to flash. I then unplugged the washing machine and reinstalled the solenoid unit into the housing. I then plugged the washer back in and it s now working. Hope this helps.
I need help I have an amana washer it was working fine I had it in storage for a couple months and when I went to hook it up and wash a cycle of clothes it stopped just as it was filling and the lid lock started flashing I unplugged it for three hrs and it still does it tried to hold the cancel button and nothing still blinking
This just happened to us and we unplugged the washer and the red light turned off. We were then able to reset the settings. If you don't want this to happen to you never change your settings if the washer has already started.
I am running into the door lock on a new Maytag MHW7100d the motor starts to run but the door locked light just keeps blinking. I have tried everything I can help!!!

Hello David, welcome to FixYa.
Based on your information posted..."control locked"...this is actually a fairly common problem with these washers (including Whirlpool, Kitchen Aid, Maytag, Amana, (some)Kenmore to name a few built by Whirlpool) I hear about both on-line and doing on-site service.
The solution, however is usually pretty simple. As long as your washer is indeed the Whirlpool give this a try and let me know how it goes.
Press and hold the "END OF CYCLE /CYCLE SIGNAL" button as you count to 15...this will reset the control. (if your washer does not have the "end of cycle" button, please post back with a model number and I'll go from there)
Good luck. Let me know how you make out as I said and if I can help you in any manner going forward I will do whatever I can.
Thank you for choosing FixYa. Please take a moment to rate the info provided here and a testimony on your experience here at FixYa today is appreciated.
