Fender Passport Pro 500

From new(2years ago) my Fender Pro 500 has had as very "sloppy" feel to the main volume control knob. Also has times when even on 4 it is loud and powerful..Then after shutdown one has to crank it up to 8 to even get volume level for a small crowd.Has also at different times had NO volume at all even when the knob is maxed out.

Fender Passports are notorious for being badly built with poor reliabilty. Trade it in for a fiver and buy something of better quality.

SOURCE: Fender passport 150 pro- Bought

You are in danger of popping the amp. The Fender passport 150 would be capable of covering about only a 20 foot by 20 foot area. If your area is bigger than that, you need more power and certainly bigger speakers. I would NOT recommend the larger Passport systems as the speakers are too directive for what sounds like your use... also there are reliability issues.

Fender Passport pro 500 - speaker static temporary, then goes away. Usually occurs shortly after turning system on.

If this system is still under warranty get it to a warranty service center. This is an early stage symptom of failure with the Power Amp IC. Fender has a good warranty policy on this stuff - 1 to 3 years

If not under warranty you may want to wait until it the problem is more persistent - easier for a tech to fix - unless it IS every time right now. A good tech can identify the issue quickly once "on the bench". My 'gut' feeling is the Power Amp IC when the system is first energizing to full stable power.

I just bought a fender passport 150 and it isn't very loud and the channel lights aren't even coming on when I plug in my guitar or my mic. You can hear the guitar and mic but only when the volume...

Turn down the VIP knob and try it. This is on channel 1 for announcement voice overs overriding everything. It has a threshhold setting for adjusting that. Here is the manual for it.

I purchased a Passport 500 less than one year ago, used it maybe 10 times and recently turned it on to use and it would not power up. No lights nothing. Checked the fuse ok. Tried a new fuse nothing. ...

Check that the power cord is seated completely. These are hard to work on and if there is a failure in it, it is unlikely you will get it restored in time. I would suggest renting a system until you get it repaired. You need rent only a powered mixer with suitable cables as your speakers should be fine. The way the Fender Passport is packaged makes them difficult to work on.

What's the best way to connect a PC (with DJ software) to a Fender PAssport 500 PRO (I want stereo input)?

Best way is to use a 1/8 TRS (stereo) to 1/4 TRS (stereo) cable from the PC into the Stereo 1/4 inch jacks right below the RCA stereo input jacks.

TRS stands for tip-ring-sleeve which means the jacks have the extra "ring" over a mono jack.

No Monitor output.

What model system do you have? If it is the PD250 what position do you have the Stereo/Dual selector switch in? It should be in Dual mode and the Left master volume control will control the monitor volume. The internal reverb will only be sent to the Main speakers.

P 150 system fails when 2 or more inputs are used at once

If you have an owners manual make note that channel one has a VIP feature with a control. This feature makes channel one override the other channels and is used for voice over announcements. The manual explains how to use the threshold control to set this. It can be downloaded at Fender.com/support.
