Fan will not work

I have a Lasko wind tower fan less than a year old. The rotation and the light work perfectly , but, the fan doesn't blow any air. Does that mean my fan is trash already?

Mine stopped. I cleaned oiled and chaged bushings. it would run for a while and stop.
I found if I started it by hand, it ran the other way instesad of pushing air. The motor polaroty somehow runs either way I push it to turn. Go figure?

How do you remove front grill of Lasko NSC-243 to enable cleaning? Thanks.

A tower fan should not be opened at all. (It’s unsafe to do so, and may damage your fan.) Every two to three weeks, simply use the brush attachment of your vacuum cleaner on the tower fan intake grills to remove lint and dirt, or use a can of compressed air to blow off dust from inner fan blades. That’s it! Your clean tower fan is ready to be plugged back in and get back to keeping your home breezy.

My lasko mod 2554 fan powers up but the fan will not work. The fan oscilates and the ionizer and timer lights all work.

It is possible that the main capacitor is faulty and so the coils is not enerrgised to start.
So check winding and check the capacitor for open.
Test capacitor by charging both the pins to mains voltage and shorting the pins to see if charge is retained. If retained the capacitor is good, if not replace.

Lasko ionizer tower fan works but does not blow air

I could sometimes get it to start spinning by banging on it. Finally took it apart. Lots of small screws, all small phillips. As I suspected, the "thrust bearing," which supports the rotating components, had become "stiff." I thought that it would be a non-friction (ball bearing), but it is only a bushing, with washers supporting the shaft. With the motor opened up, I greased the bearing with petroleum jelly, and reassembled everything. It is spinning very quietly now. Final comment - this is probably more work than the average fix-it person would want to take on, but it is doable. It took about two hours, start to finish. I could do it in less than one hour now that I know how to do it.

My lasko tower fan gets power n wont blow air

The bearings on the motor are dry and need oil. It's really not made to be oiled, but you may be able to take it apart and get some oil to the bearings if you want to mess with it.

Lasko 2554 tower fan

I just replaced the thermal fuse in the motor case. You can find replacements at Radio Shack. http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=12505747&utm_source=Google&utm_medium=PPC&utm_term=55048814&utm_content=Exact&utm_campaign=PLA&%7bifmobile:ds_dest_url=http%3A%2F%2Fm.radioshack.com%2Fradioshack%2Fproduct%2Fdetail.do%3FitemId%3d12505747%26utm_source%3dGoogle%26utm_medium%3dPPC%26utm_term%3d55048814%26utm_content%3dExact%26utm_campaign%3dPLA%7d&cagpspn=pla&gclid=CIjo_4_ylrkCFUcGKgodMG0AAA&gclsrc=ds.ds
You will need to open the motor case and carefully cut the heat shrink tube off where the red wire connects to the white wire. I do mean carefully, as you don't want to cut the tiny coil wire soldered to the white wire and the thermal fuse. Cut the old one out, leaving some of the old lead to solder the new one too. Be sure to add new heat shrink tube before soldering the new one in so you can get it all back properly. This certainly took some time and patiance but was better than throwing it out and spending another 60 to 70 bucks.

Lasko 2554 Wind Tower Fan

I have a Lasko HVB, but this might apply to your fan:

Without taking the thing totally apart, here's an idea you can try: The power cord on some models (like mine) has a "warning" tag. I had the damn thing all apart when I noticed this. (Well, who reads 'em??) Seems like there's a mini-fuse in the PLUG itself that, when it blows, there's nothing you can do about it except send it for repair to a factory authorized yadda yadda yadda. Who's going to do that??

If you plug in and NOTHING HAPPENS, here's what might turn out to be an cheap and easy fix: cut off a few inches of the plug end of the cord and go buy another plug at Ace. Heavy duty might be appropriate: don't think I'd want a lamp plug on this baby. Get one that's easy to install. Bring the cut off piece and they'll help you find exactly what you want.

If you want to open it up, there's a screw behind the Lasko medallion, remove that and you can snap out the grille. You can see where the cord comes in from the back of the blower housing. Test the line voltage. If you're not getting about 120VAC, it's the plug.

If that's not it, IMHO, without some knowledge or a schematic, you're screwed. That'd be me. It wasn't the plug.

Good luck!
