There is only one slot for 1gb of memory . Is there another place to add 1 more gb. Toshiba says I can add up to 2 gb
SOURCE: 1024 RAM
No, you would need to remove both of your old 512mb ram sticks and replace them with 2 1gb ram sticks (PC2-4200) crucial.com sells ram for you laptop 2gb will cost you about $50 +shipping.
SOURCE: Memory Problem
Sounds like the memory chip is either the wrong frequency or it's bad. The frequency or type of memory for your machine is PC4200 or 533mhz, make sure the new chip is a PC4200 chip. If it is, then the chip may be bad. They are very static sensitive, and I've had a few bad chips straight out of the box. I've also ran into a couple of chips that were marked wrong and not the frequency on the label. This is definitely an issue with the memory chip and not your machine.
SOURCE: memory upgrade
It looks like the A25 will only hold 1g of PC2100, which is really plenty, unless you're a serious gamer or into graphic arts and need an extreme high definition video. Here's a link to the memory configurator that I use in order to find the proper memory, max held, and the chipset. You might double check to be sure I looked up the right machine. If it is the right machine, I suggest two 512mb chips. Sometimes you can't run one 1g chip because the slots are designed to only hold a certain amount, and if they will hold the 1g chip, sometime the machine doesn't run properly. It wants to use both slots accordingly, running only one creates conflicts. This should help in boosting your RAM.
SOURCE: I upgraded the memory from 1Gb to 2 Gb but my laptop's still slow
look system performance like gettin slow depends on the condition of hard disk actually after 3 years of use and sometimes new hard drive also gets damaged and slow down bcoz of jerks and
bumps during transportation it degrades there performance so always
carry ur notebook in a good carry case ,hard disk gets weak and its strength goes down it becomes slow in loading OS giving data to programs hence slow down the performance of the whole system
sytem doesnt depend much on ram it depends on condition of hard drive as well, if u would have asked me my answer is replace hard disk instead of RAM from 1gb to 2 gb offcourse more is better but in this case hard disk will help u
if u want to check the status and age of ur hard drive go to www.binarysense.com and download hddlife for notebooks from there a trial version will also show u the health of ur hard drive
so my friend if u need a new boost in sys performance u need to replace hard disk with a new 250 GB atleast 5400 RPM but for best u can go for 160/250 GB 7200 RPM and HITACHI is the best brand among all manufacturers as i have tested and experts also prefer that, ur notebook might carry 120 or 160 Gb 4200 RPM as far as i know
pls rate me FIXYA if i have fixed ur problem
SOURCE: How much memory ran can I put in my computer
Hello,
You can put a maximum of 2GB. Your notebook will support 2 modules of 1024MB PC2700 DDR 333MHz. your notebook has two memory slot and you will need to remove the existing memory if you wan to upgrade to the maximum allowable memory. One is accessible via the bottom of the notebook and the other you may need a technician but it may be reach under your keyboard if you can remove it.
Good luck
