My nikon n55 is flashing err after installing new film

take rool out and throw away that should fix it

There was a recall on the N55 due to auto focus problems. You can do a google search or nikon.com email the support team and they will send you the paper. This is what I did, I wasn't charged since I had the correct papers. I, however, used one roll of film and my focus went out again! Mine doesn't even work on manual... If you want to try that maybe you will hae better luck than me. GOOD LUCK!

If the shutter blades get bent they are hard to straighten out. Better to find a local repairman or you could do more damage to the shutter. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

You must have your lens set to the minimum aperture setting for this camera to function. I.E. f22,f32. The aperture ring moves a small tab on the outside of the mount ring when in that position.

Make sure the lens you are using on the camera is set to the minimum aperture setting. i.e. f22,f32 (highest f stop number)

Remove the batteries for 5 or 10 minutes. Remove the lens from the body and replace it. Make sure the lens is on f22 before you put the batteries back in and turn on the camera. If this doesn't solve it, try rewinding the film you have in the camera and try a new roll. The other thing to check if none of the above works is to remove the lens and check the small tab just on the outside of the mount ring at about 7:00. The tab is spring loaded and you should be able to push it with your finger and it will snap back. If it doesn't, the tab plate will need repaired or replaced

You might want to check the position of the aperture ring on the lens. If it is not set at the highest number, ( IE smallest aperture, f22,f32 ), then the camera will display that error message

Since this happened on two seperate rolls of film, the problem may be that the shutter blades have been bent out of place.  This can cause the symptoms you describe.  Have a qualified technician look at the shutter.  Usually the blades can be reset.  In bad cases the blades may be bent or creased. If this is the case, the shutter may need to be replaced.

Check the camera and the manual to see if there is a control to override the auto rewind; it may be set to rewind. Other than that, check Mikon's website for support info.
