Without seeing the set, it is hard to pin down the problem. But I would guess you have a problem with either the t-con board, t-con ribbon connection problem, or a failing LCD panel. Samsungs are known for premature panel failures. The problem is by that time you pay a diagnosis fee, parts and labor, you would be close to the price of a new set. If you are financially able to buy another set, I would do so and toss your old one on Craigslist. If you get $40 bucks for it take the money and run !!!
I have heard that if it is the LCD panel then there is no point of repair because that is expensive. But if it the t-con board or ribbon connection problem would this be inexpensive to fix? I'm sure it would be if I knew how to do myself, but I don't. I'm willing to pay at least $175 to have it fixed. Would this be about the right price range (estimate) if it is the t-con board or t-con ribbion problem?

If the lines are vertical and go from one side of the TV to the other, it is most likely the scalar boards. There could be a loose connection from the PDP module (plasma panel) and the scalar boards. Otherwise, the scalar boards need to be replaced.
If the lines are horizontal, then the same thing as above except for the y-drives instead of the scalar boards.

I have done extensive reading and "Googling" about the - Blue Vertical line from top to bottom. (Oh so many problems and answers.) We are getting the shaft with these products: extended warranty or not.
I have a 46 inch Samsung LCD TV (LNT4671F). I bought it 11/2007.
Problem: I have a 2.5 inch wide hazy blue vertical line on the left side of my screen.
Answer: I have found the problem to be related with the following: when you change to a new TV channel there is (normally) a small rectangular window that is a "channel display window" of the channel you switched to and some information, then it shuts off, and then you have a perfect viewing screen w/o blue line. When this "channel display window" comes on; I have noticed there is a vertical blue line - exactly 2.5 inches wide - which is exactly the same as my vertical line problem. I took the back case off and looked at the component at the top middle of the TV inside. I put everything back together, and then, turned the TV back on. Where there was a vertical blue line from top to bottom...now it is gone. One thing which is different --> I did not have this function set up before; the "channel display window function is now ON" whereby, previously, I believe I shut it off. Important: since the display window is back on (which shuts off in 10 to 15 seconds) --> I don't have a vertical blue line anymore !!!!
:) Very happy right now. If I called a service rep: they would have sucked lots of cash out of me b/c as customers ... we know little about how to fix this S_it.

It looks like the circuit board has a bad connection to your screen.
it is not repairable by you and not an adjustment.
you need to have it repaired.

If under warranty then of course use that.
This is a display problem. One solution someone knowledgeable in electronics can try.
This problem can be caused by a bad connection fitting of the flat cables on LCD controller board. Dis-connect the flat cables from the LCD controller(T-CON) and carefully reconnect them. Try the unit before reassembling the back cover. You may have to disconnect/reconnect several times to show improvements if this is the problem.

My tv has white vertical lines on the left side of the screen. The tv powers on and there is a picture on the screen that I can see, but on the left side there is no clear picture because of the white lines. I brought this TV from HHgregg but misplaced the warranty card that came with the TV(I did not purchase a warranty through the store). I want to take it to a repair shop. Is the repairable for a reasonable price?
