MMS messaging on RZR phone

I recently purchased 2 Razr phones from Ebay. Everything on the phones works ETC the receiving of photos. One phone gets the message and says 'downloading' picture....but can never download it. The other one doesn't even receive the message - however - does receive Text messaging just fine.

we have Cingular/AT&T...........thanks for your help! I did ask the Cingular folks but they said it was a phone problem not a service.

  • Jacqueline Blankenship Jun 13, 2007

RZRSucks - although this didn't solve the problem I did go into my phone which was purchased through Cingular and look at the settings that coincided with the ones you suggested. They were different somewhat. I changed the settings on the other phones to match mine but it had a user name and password in my settings that were just (********) and I don't have a clue what those settings would be.

I really appreciate your help...........any more suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I will need to know your who your service provider is to help you. Yet, I can suggest that you go to your service providers website and go to the support section. Then look for MMS profiles or settings. Many of the providers will send the settings to fix the problem straight to your phone. This also means that you bought an unlocked phone by the way.

I need to know if i can send photos though txt or email with the motorola w 218

No, your phone is an entry level phone that doesn't have the capabilities to picture message (MMS). You cannot send pictures through Text Messaging (SMS) or by email on this phone. MMS is required for picture messaging.

If you'd like to have a phone that will MMS, you can take a look at the Motorola SLVR L7. (Depending on which cellular provider you have as to whether it will work on your cellular system) The L7 is also supported by Motorola Phone Tools. They're very inexpensive (especially if purchased on eBay).

MMS retreival

Mobile phones take and display pictures in a wide variety of resolutions and file formats. Many phones can't display some of these pictures from different models because their display resolution is not compatible.

Do you have this problem on every MMS received (from different users), or is this an intermittent problem?

It sounds like you are receiving an MMS forwarding message, where the content of the message is actually stored on a web server that you log into with the information that was forwarded to you.

Please check the following MMS settings on your phone and verify that they match:

From the standby screen, press the Menu Key.

Scroll to "Settings," press Select.

Scroll to "WebAccess," press Select.

Scroll to "Web Sessions," press Select.

Scroll to "Cingular MMS" press Menu.

(if not there select "new")

Scroll to "Edit," press Select.

Validate the following parameters:
Name: Cingular MMS
Homepage: http://mmsc.cingular.com
Service Type 1: HTTP

By not bothering purchasing ringtones from Cingular. Purchase "Motorola Phone Tools" and let her create her own ring tones. :) It will save you money in the long run, BELIEVE me.
