Audio not Working

My problem is the Audio is not working at all. The LCD TV was working fine until 2 days ago when I turned the LCD TV on and there was no audio. I checked the User manual and did everything the manual suggested and it's still not working. After the first evening I turned the TV on and it did not work. The next morning I turned the TV on and the Audio was working. Then that evening I turned the TV on and it was not working again. Please any help will be appreciated. Thank you, Miggybee

WE had a power outage and our big screen was on, when the power came back on, the picture works fine the audio does not. We've tried everything we can to re-set the menu, un plugged it for 10 minutes, nothing works, audio is stillnot working.

Yesterday the TV was working fine and within hours of turning it off and then turning it back on, the audio went out. Turned on again today and still not working. Tried to unplug the system as well as follow all instructions in the manual and still not working.

Have you tried unplugging overnight? Sometimes mine gets screen garbage and that clears it up. Of course, now it says "Auto Scan Required" every time I power up. Maybe I should've grabbed that after Xmas 32" at Fry's for $400.

If the power light stays on green, I would look tward a backlight issue. If you can see any image at all then the backlight controler or the backlights are bad. If there is nothing then if could be a power supply overheating or an inverter failure. More than likely as the unit heats up a failed solder connection is loosing contact causing the screen to go black.

SOURCE: Westinghouse 32 in LCD TV

I have had this problem now for about six months with my Niko OPT-3211W. After replacing the Inverter card, VIT70002.00 as suggested nothing changed. I then read that it may be a couple of capacitors in the power supply, but I do not have the skills needed to replace them, nor do I want to pay to fix it. The solution is simple... turn on the TV and wait two to five minutes, then turn off the main power. I suggest using a power strip. Then turn the power back on in two to five seconds. The TV will come back on and it works great from then on. I thought that it was a freak thing, but it keeps working.

SOURCE: I am having problems with my Westinghouse LCD TV.

No quick fixes. A component such as a capacitor is heating up and failing. Sometimes a cracked solder connection will work fine until it heats up and no longer sustains the connection.

When the screen goes off, shine a very bright flashlight at the screen to see if the image is still there. In many cases, the problem is the screen backlight, which consists of several CCFL tubes (fluorescent lamps) and a circuit board called the inverter (similar to a lamp ballast).

If the image is there, but the backlight is off, then you just may need a new inverter board.

Start with the simple things, make sure the mute feature is turned off. Also, be aware that some TV sets allow you to turn off the internal audio in the menu. If this isn't the case and you are not getting sound on any inputs, your set will need to be serviced.

Ultra LCD 30-500 TV, audio but no video. Worked fine for 4 years until 3 days ago when the screen would go black intermittently. Now there is no video period, only audio. Does anyone have a solution or...

The problem can be bad backlight inverter board or the 24vdc power supply for the backlight inverter is not working, it is easier to look at the power supply module than to get to the inverter board, These are the two most failure parts in LCD TV. Look for bad capacitors in the power supply first or burnt parts.

TV will not turn on. audio and cable are working

I hate to tell you but these lamps typically last only a year to a year and a half, so it's possible it can still be the lamp.

Samsung LCD tv - Turns on and off by itself.

Since you have another TV with the same problem you can try using an antenna(indoor model ok) to see if the cable is causing the problem. If not return TV before the warranty expires.
