My printer will not connect for printing a letter or spreadsheets

Software issue. Contact MS since HP will do nada for you since it is not a printer problem. Maybe your excel program is not really compatible with Win 7. Check it out.

check your print preview. Either Excel is set to print multiple copies or the spreadsheet is slightly bigger than a page. Fix the spreadsheet, this is likely not a printer issue.

I doubt any problems in the printer.

From your'e spreadsheet, Select printing range and print preview the sheet. If all appears on screen then print it.

normally you go to printer settings and look for where it says page quality. make sure the page quality is set to normal or fine. this will make it black. if it is on a setting lower than this it will cause the printed document to appear grey.

Are you printing an Excel spreadsheet? If so, check the SHEET TAB of the PAGE SETUP menu in Excel and make sure that PRINT GRIDLINES is checked on.

print menu - config and verify paper is being sensed correctly. If paper size in tray is not set correctly printer will ask where to print from

replace the black print cartridge. I guess that the text is B&W. Pictures are printed in color - from the color ink cartridge.

You indicated you uninstalled the software. Are you meaning the driver or the printers software?
I will go at this from both points. If you have reloaded drivers, have you switched the type of driver your using. There are 2 types PCL and PS post script drivers, switching the type may help.
Have you installed the actual printer software, and if so have you cleared the memory. Software corruption is a possibility.
Have you tried disabling any firewalls, pop up blockers, anti spyware programs like Spybot or adaware ?
I have seen those block printers and print data in the past.
Some things, when you mention web pages, are copy write protected and will not print, but that does not address the spreadsheet.
Cables would not be a problem if you can print e-mail and test pages. You are having the data blocked by some program on the computer.
You need to turn them off one at at time until you find out which one is stopping the data transfer.
That's an odd problem, but just yesterday I have a funeral home have an application problem like that , and it was their spyware program that was causing the problem.
Be persistant, and you will find it by process of elimination.

checka all the lettres are in excel are in black colour only or check the printing mode. bye
